The Hidden Ones is a live-service fighting game, so its roster is built to grow over time rather than arrive fully formed. This page is the hub for the fighters who have actually been shown in the game's trailers and test builds. It lists each confirmed fighter, the starting lineup from the playtest, and an honest note on how large the launch roster is expected to be.

Confirmed Fighters
The fighters below have appeared in this game's own material, whether in an official trailer, an official listing, or a hands-on test build. The style notes are limited to what has actually been shown so far, so several entries are short. The game draws its cast from the original The Outcast franchise, but a name being famous in that source does not mean it is in this game, so only fighters confirmed for this build are listed here.
Fighter | Style / Notes | Status |
|---|---|---|
The series lead and one of the three starting test fighters. A thunder and lightning user in the original series; in-game moveset not yet detailed. | Confirmed | |
A fast close-range fighter with a kitchen knife or machete, strong combos that are hard to break, and a forward dash. Repeatedly called very strong in previews. | Confirmed | |
A Tai Chi practitioner with parkour movement and a flexible moveset, good at crowd control and big single-target damage. A story protagonist. | Confirmed | |
Described as a cold man with a wild fighting style who chains combos efficiently. | Confirmed | |
Appears in a trailer and is referenced among the test characters. Little else has been revealed. | Confirmed | |
An intense puppet girl with large lifeless eyes and a mastery of pointy weapons. | Confirmed |
The Starting Trio
In the February 2025 playtest, players began with a fixed trio of three fighters and unlocked more through in-game progression. That starting trio was Zhang Chulan, Feng Baobao, and Wang Ye. Treat this as the test build's starting lineup rather than a confirmed launch default.
Roster Size
The roster size has shifted between builds, so no final launch count has been confirmed. In the pre-alpha test, the Duel Mode lineup was larger, around fourteen fighters in that build. Previews of the game indicate roughly nine fighters available at launch, with the lineup expanding over time as a live-service title. The exact final count has not been confirmed, so it is best read as around nine at launch and growing, not a fixed number.
Many famous names from the source cast have not been confirmed as playable in this game. They are not listed here and will be added if and when an official reveal shows them in-game.
How Fighters Play
Every fighter shares the same skill-based foundation. The Combat System is built on basic attacks, skills, blocks, and dodges, with color-coded attack tells and a stamina economy that applies to all characters. The disciplines are framed around The Eight Secret Arts of the source world, which is why each fighter's moveset is meant to feel distinct. The combat design also carries an official Bruce Lee Collaboration that informs the be-water flow of movement.
