Princess Heuria is the princess of the Kingdom of Huther in the Age of Safekeeping and the daughter of King Ichard. She is the reason Elliot and Faie undertake their journey: the explicit goal of the thousand-year mission is to lift the curse that afflicts her.

The Spell of Safekeeping

Heuria's innate magic allows her to cast the spell of Safekeeping, which generates a barrier that protects the Kingdom of Huther from the beast tribes that overrun Philabieldia. Her presence in the castle is required to maintain the spell; she cannot leave without putting the entire kingdom at risk. As a result, though she longs to see the outside world, she has remained within the castle walls while life beyond its borders continues on without her.

The spell's importance cannot be overstated. Huther is described as humanity's sole bastion in this age, and the barrier Heuria sustains is the only thing standing between its people and the constant threat of the beast tribes. Her father, King Ichard, is said to worry deeply for her because of the burden she carries, even as his minister Kaifried argues the kingdom should seek other means of protection rather than relying on the princess's magic.

Personality

Despite the constraints of her situation, Heuria has earned the love and respect of the kingdom's people. She is described as fair and kindhearted. The people's affection for her is genuine rather than merely obligatory, a testament to the warmth she brings even from within the castle.

The Curse

A curse afflicts Princess Heuria, and lifting it is the central purpose of Elliot and Faie's journey across the four ages. The nature of the curse, including its origin and what it does to her, has not been revealed in pre-launch materials.
