Bombs are delayed-detonation explosives that Elliot can place or throw in combat and throughout the environment. Their dual role in both fighting and exploration makes them one of the more versatile weapons, at the cost of a limited supply that must be managed across dungeons.
After a bomb is placed or thrown, there is a short delay before it explodes. Enemies caught in the blast take damage from the explosion. The delay requires predicting enemy movement rather than landing immediate hits, which takes more setup than faster weapons but can catch groups of enemies in a single burst. Managing position during the countdown is also part of the combat system when bombs are in use.
Specific details about the bombs' charged special have not been revealed in pre-launch materials. The general system confirms most weapons have a charged variant, but the bombs' exact charged behavior has not been described yet.
Bombs deal area damage and can hit multiple enemies caught in the blast radius, making them effective in tight spaces where enemies cluster. Because the supply is finite, they are best reserved for situations where the delayed detonation can be set up reliably, such as luring grouped foes into position. Faie's Ignite ability can detonate bombs early, potentially disrupting enemies or triggering environmental effects ahead of schedule.
Bombs are required to destroy cracked walls and other destructible obstacles scattered throughout dungeons and the overworld. Blasting these open reveals Secret Treasure Routes, small hidden dungeons that reward exploration off the main path. Keeping a supply of bombs available is important for players who want to find all hidden areas, as these routes cannot be accessed by any other means.
The Ripe Bomb Magicite increases explosive damage while extending the delay before detonation. The stronger blast comes at the cost of a longer fuse, requiring even more anticipation when placing bombs. As with all magicite, rarer versions of the Ripe Bomb Magicite deliver a stronger damage bonus, and higher rarity costs less to equip within the loadout's cost limit.
