Voices from Beyond

Voices from Beyond is an ongoing short-form audio drama series set in the Subnautica universe. It serves as a promotional campaign leading up to Subnautica 2's Early Access launch.

Story

The series follows a Mongolian family of three: a father, mother, and their newborn daughter. Set after the events of both Subnautica and Below Zero, the story takes place as political tensions rise and a mysterious outbreak threatens their way of life.

The narrative is told primarily through diegetic audio, particularly radio broadcasts. This format mirrors the PDA audio logs and radio messages that serve as the primary storytelling mechanism in the Subnautica games.

Episodes

The first episode, titled "Don't Fear," was released on November 25, 2025. At least three episodes have been released as of February 2026, with more planned before the Early Access launch.

Connection to Subnautica 2

How Voices from Beyond connects to Subnautica 2's plot on Planet Zezura hasn't been fully revealed. The "mysterious outbreak" mentioned in the series description could be related to the Kharaa bacterium or represent an entirely new threat. The series appears designed to bridge the narrative gap between the previous games and Subnautica 2.
