Overview

The Runebird is one of the early bosses encountered in the Moonlit Forest. As one of the first major combat challenges players face during the Explorer profession questline, the Runebird serves as an introduction to the game's boss fight mechanics. Defeating the Runebird is required to progress deeper into the forest.

Location

The Runebird is found in the Evernight Forest, the initial zone of the Moonlit Forest. Players encounter this boss relatively early in the Explorer profession questline after clearing the first set of enemies and solving basic environmental puzzles in the area.

Combat Strategy

The Runebird is a flying enemy that attacks with swooping dives and ranged projectiles. The recommended strategy involves circle strafing to avoid its dive attacks while using a slingshot to deal damage between its attack patterns. Key tips for the fight include:

• Keep moving in a circular pattern around the arena to avoid the Runebird's dive attacks

• Use a slingshot or ranged weapon to deal damage when the Runebird pauses between attack sequences

• Bring food items to restore health, as the Runebird can land several hits on unprepared players

• Watch for the Runebird's wind-up animation before each dive; this is your cue to dodge sideways

• Stock up on stone pellets or arrows before entering the fight

Drops

Defeating the Runebird yields Runebird Fragments, a crafting material used in several mid-tier recipes. These fragments are also referenced in some NPC gift preference lists, making them useful for building relationships with certain characters.

Preparation

Before challenging the Runebird, make sure you have upgraded your slingshot and stocked sufficient ammunition. Bringing cooking buffs that boost attack power or health regeneration can make the fight significantly easier.
