Added the four fertilizer families with exact tier effects, production via the Fertilizer Box, and usage guidance
Fertilizers are farm items in Starsand Island that improve how your crops grow. They are produced at the Fertilizer Box from farm and ranch byproducts. Rather than a single item, fertilizer comes in four distinct families, each with its own effect: some speed up growth, some increase yield, and two special types boost mutation or pollination chances. Choosing the right fertilizer for each crop is one of the bigger profit levers in the mid and late game.
There are four fertilizer families across several tiers. Their effects are:
Fertilizer | Effect |
|---|---|
Ripening Fertilizer I | Instantly advances crop growth by 8 hours |
Ripening Fertilizer II | Instantly advances crop growth by 13 hours |
Ripening Fertilizer III | Instantly advances crop growth by 25 hours |
Yield Fertilizer I | Increases yield by 50% at maturity |
Yield Fertilizer II | Increases yield by 150% at maturity |
Gmax Fertilizer III | Increases mutation probability by 15% on seasonal crops; cannot be stacked with other fertilizers |
Nutrient Soil IV | Increases pollination probability by 15% on flower seeds; can be stacked with other fertilizers |
Apply fertilizer to tilled soil before or after planting. Ripening types are best when you want a harvest before a season ends, while Yield types maximize the quantity you pull from each plant. Gmax Fertilizer III is the tool for chasing rare crop mutations, but because it cannot stack you must commit a tile to it. Nutrient Soil IV is the exception that stacks, so it pairs well with other fertilizers when you grow Flowers for pollination.
Fertilizers are crafted at the Fertilizer Box, which turns crop waste, animal waste, and similar organic materials into finished fertilizer. The Fertilizer Box blueprints are unlocked by progressing through Farmer certifications and purchased from the Happiness Seed Shop. Higher-tier boxes produce the higher-tier fertilizers, so unlocking later certifications is what gives you access to Yield II, Gmax III, and Nutrient Soil IV.
Use Yield Fertilizer on high-value crops like Lemon and Star Plum for the biggest profit gains.
Reserve Gmax Fertilizer III for tiles where you are specifically hunting mutations, since it cannot stack with anything else.
Stack Nutrient Soil IV with a Yield or Ripening fertilizer on flower beds to get both effects at once.
Keep the Fertilizer Box fed with ranch byproducts so you always have fertilizer on hand at planting time.
Combine fertilizer with Sprinklers and Fertilizers automation to cut down on manual watering and dosing.
