STAR WARS Zero Company is set in the twilight of the Clone Wars, the final stretch of the galaxy-spanning conflict that frames the game's story. The game uses that backdrop without retelling the larger war: its focus is the shadow conflict at the edges, the war beneath the war.
The Setting

In Star Wars lore, the Clone Wars are fought between the Galactic Republic, defended by its clone armies, and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, the Separatists, who field vast droid forces. Hawks served the Republic before the events of the game and now works outside its chain of command. The era's familiar sights, clone troopers, battle droids, and a galaxy stretched thin by war, set the stage.
Official material places the campaign at around 20 BBY, near the end of the Clone Wars.
A War in the Shadows
Rather than command a frontline army, Zero Company runs covert operations, the missions the official war does not see. That framing lets the game tell a grittier, character-driven story about expendable professionals doing dirty work, while the headline battles of the Clone Wars rage elsewhere.
Worlds the Campaign Visits
An official reveal graphic in July 2026 named eleven Tactical Mission worlds: Anaxes, Brentaal, Dantooine, Florrum, Kaller, Lothal, Mapuzo, Ryloth, Serolonis, Sullust, and Vandor. That is not the full set. Official posts separately name Bespin among the planets where missions take place, and Luunata as the world Jae Mordant lost to the Infinite Coil, which fits the developers' description of over a dozen bespoke mission planets in total. The galaxy map as a whole spans more than 150 planets, so even the full mission list is a small slice of where the campaign reaches.
See Planets and Locations for the full breakdown of the two location layers and short background on each named world.
Familiar Faces
Jedi General Anakin Skywalker, a central figure of the Clone Wars in the wider saga, makes a confirmed appearance. In the gameplay reveal he is shown on a mission of his own, and his path briefly crosses with Zero Company, whose intelligence and tactical expertise are what he needs to finish the job. How far his involvement reaches beyond that meeting has not been detailed. Anything beyond what the game itself shows belongs to the broader franchise and is not necessarily reflected in Zero Company's own story.
Matt Lanter voices Anakin in the game, a role he has held across animated Star Wars. The casting confirms the character is present; it says nothing about how long he is on screen, which Bit Reactor has still not detailed.
How Much of the Galaxy You See
The galaxy map spans more than 150 planets where Operations can potentially take place, most of them resolved through war-table choices rather than combat. Tactical Missions are far more selective: a bit over a dozen planets were built as full environments for them, each developed with the Lucasfilm Games team.
