Clone armor is one of the first cosmetic options open to you in STAR WARS Zero Company, and Clone Troopers become recruitable units later on. The two are separate: the look is available immediately, the troopers themselves are a story unlock.

Armor From the Start
Operators have access to clone armor cosmetics and can customize that armor from the beginning of the campaign. Paint jobs and patterns are available for helmets, armor, and more, so a squad that all wears clone kit does not have to look identical. As with every other cosmetic in the game, none of it changes how an Operator performs.
Helmet Voice Modulation
Clone Trooper helmets carry a small extra: wearing one applies voice modulation to the character. Any Operator in a clone helmet picks up the filtered delivery, whatever species is underneath.
Unlocking Clone Troopers
Clone Troopers become available as Operators after a certain point in the story. Once they are unlocked you can field a full team of them, which makes an all-clone company a genuine build rather than a cosmetic imitation of one. Trick, the clone who joins Zero Company at the start, is a separate authored character rather than one of these recruits.
