The Tennoji clan is one of two samurai houses confirmed for SOL Shogunate and the family the player character was born into. Its power rested on moving people and cargo through the colonized solar system. It was wiped out in a coordinated strike by the rival Karasuma clan in the event the campaign opens on. The Tennoji built their position on transportation. The wealth came from interplanetary travel infrastructure across the colonized solar system and, closer to home, from the bullet-train network that ties the lunar cities and districts together. On a world where settlements sit far apart across unpressurized terrain, owning the lines between them is worth a great deal.
That infrastructure is still part of the world the player moves through. Space elevators connect the lunar surface to orbit, bullet trains cross the surface between cities, and the network the Tennoji built is one of the reasons the family carried so much political weight before the massacre. The studio has not said what became of the clan's holdings afterwards, or who runs the lines now.
The campaign opens with the Tennoji already gone. The Karasuma, whose own power flows from lunar mining and material processing, moved against them in a coordinated strike and wiped the house out. The stated motive is consolidation: removing a rival and improving the Karasuma position inside the Shogunate rather than settling an older grievance.
That one great clan could erase another and keep operating inside the regime is itself a statement about how the Shogunate really works. The specific Karasuma figure responsible has not been named, and the sequence of events on the night itself has not been described.
Yuzuki survived. With the clan destroyed and her standing gone with it, she fell outside the protection the Shogunate is supposed to extend to its houses and became a ronin: a samurai without a master, hunted rather than honored, moving through the sanctioned order from outside it.
Her opening drive is revenge against the Karasuma. The writing does not leave her there. As the campaign progresses she pulls on threads that tie her family's destruction to conditions inside the regime as a whole, so the clan vendetta becomes the way into a much wider conspiracy.
Both confirmed clans are tied to the research that makes living on the Moon possible at all: genetic engineering, biological adaptation, and advances in habitat, gravity, and life support. Those advances are not distributed evenly. They reach the ruling caste first and most generously, and they reach the working population on far worse terms.
Yuzuki's own kit reflects that inheritance. Her gene-splice pool and the gravity-manipulation gear she carries are both framed as things a great house's resources paid for. After the strike she keeps the equipment but loses the political cover that made carrying it routine. The upgrade layer is covered on the Augmentation page.
The studio's own concept art carries a location label reading "Shin Edo - Tennoji residence", showing a clan residence inside the flagship lunar city, alongside separate art of the city under its simulated daytime. These labels are the studio's internal names for the places pictured rather than prose descriptions of confirmed content, so read the residence as evidence that the place exists rather than as a confirmed playable location.
The Shogunate is a confederation of competing samurai clans rather than a single unified state, and the Tennoji were one of its major houses. Rank runs through martial tradition, disputes settle through the blade as often as through office, and clan honor works as both contract and currency. The Tennoji sat inside that order until the Karasuma decided they should not.
No clan names beyond these two have been revealed, so where the Tennoji ranked against any other house is unknown.

The clan crest, colors, formal titles, and internal ranks.

Whether the clan's history reaches back into the earlier colonisation era the in-fiction records describe.
Any allied houses, retainers, or surviving loyalists.
