Announcement Timeline

April 2026 | The World of SOL Shogunate |
2027 | Targeted release window. No firm date. |
The April 2026 developer diary focused on the lunar setting, the Shin-Edo and Tenkyo cities, and the Tennoji and Karasuma clan rivalry. More shows are expected as the 2027 window narrows.
Engine
The game is built on Unreal Engine 5. Chaos Manufacturing confirmed the engine choice in April 2026 development coverage. Engine version, planned ray-tracing and upscaling tech, and any feature toggles have not been broken out publicly yet.
The studio has been explicit that optimisation is being built in throughout development rather than left until the end, with levels checked regularly through production. Where proven techniques and the newest graphics features trade off, the stated preference is for the proven ones plus strong art direction. The priority is a stable, smooth frame rate on the grounds that an action game cannot afford to be choppy, so no ray-tracing, path-tracing, or upscaling commitments have been made.
Languages
The Steam listing names 17 supported languages. Full voice-over plus subtitles are confirmed only for English and Japanese. The remaining 15 entries (French, Italian, German, Spanish (Spain), Dutch, Korean, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Portuguese (Portugal), Russian, Simplified Chinese, Spanish (Latin America), Traditional Chinese, Turkish, and Ukrainian) ship with subtitles and interface localisation only, with no dub announced for those tracks.
Input And Difficulty
Controller support is confirmed and is the studio's primary development target. The team has stated PC is being built controller-first, with a strong keyboard configuration planned for keyboard-and-mouse players. The exact rebinding options, the controller layout per platform, and any accessibility-focused input modes have not been published yet.
Difficulty modes are confirmed. The game ships with an easy mode positioned for casual players who want to follow the story without combat blocking progress, and a hard mode positioned for players who want to dig into the interlocking systems. Specific tier names, modifier breakdowns, and any additional difficulty tiers (a third tier, a new-game-plus mode, or speedrun-specific options) have not been published yet.
On PlayStation the studio plans to lean on the DualSense controller as far as it can, naming haptic feedback, the controller speaker, and possibly the touchpad. Control layouts are still moving during development, but the stated direction is that players coming from Final Fantasy XVI should find the scheme familiar, with a set of presets shipping alongside full input rebinding.

Demos, Playtests, and Physical Media
Neither a demo nor a playtest has been scheduled. The studio has said it believes in both, so that players understand what they are buying and so the team gets feedback early, but that the project is not yet far enough along to give timing. Playtest sign-ups run through the studio's own community channels.
A physical release is an intention rather than a commitment. Distribution channels have not been settled, and the studio's position is that it likes physical media and game ownership and will try to make a disc release happen if resources allow.
System Requirements
The Steam page currently lists system requirements as to-be-announced. Earlier in development the Steam listing briefly showed a set of minimum and recommended hardware specifications, but the studio confirmed in early 2026 that those numbers were placed in error and removed them from the storefront. Chaos Manufacturing has stated it is not yet at a stage to commit to target hardware. Specific minimums, recommended hardware, supported graphics APIs, storage footprint, and any upscaling toggles will be published closer to launch.
