Tears of Metal entered Early Access in Spring 2026. The game is available on PC through Steam and the Microsoft Store, and on Xbox Series X|S through the Xbox digital storefront and the Microsoft Store. The game launched as part of Game Pass on Day One of its Early Access release.

The Xbox announcement was made during the ID@Xbox Showcase in April 2026. The Xbox version supports Xbox Play Anywhere, meaning a single purchase on the Microsoft Store provides access on both PC and Xbox Series X|S. The game is rated TEEN by the ESRB for Violence and Blood.

Paper Cult has stated that Early Access will last between 4 and 12 months, depending on feedback. The price of the game is expected to increase when it exits Early Access and moves to full release. No specific full release date has been announced.
