11 The Plains is the starter biome of Romestead. It is where players spawn, build their first camp, and meet the first major boss. The terrain is open, the resources are basic, and the difficulty is the lowest in the game. Most of the tutorial quests and the Worshipping the Gods chain take place here.

2121 The Plains hosts the first major boss, the Guardian of Minerva. The owl nests in a specific spot in the biome; lighting the campfires next to the pointing statues makes the statues point toward the nest. The fight gates the next crafting tier and drops the Feathered armor set.

2525 After Plains is cleared (Guardian downed, Feathered set assembled), players cross into the Forest next. The Plains biome remains the safest place to maintain a base; many players keep their main settlement here even after pushing into harder regions.
