Natures

Corrected nature system to the live build: 30 natures across six stats including HP, removed the incorrect neutral-nature set, switched to Magic Attack/Defense terminology, and added the full authoritative nature matrix
Every spirit in Roco Kingdom: World is assigned a nature when it is caught, hatched, or obtained through any other method. A nature is one of the most important factors in spirit cultivation because it permanently shifts how the spirit’s stats are distributed. There are 30 natures, and every one of them raises one stat while lowering another. Choosing the right nature is critical for PvP: a physical attacker saddled with a nature that lowers its physical attack will always underperform one whose nature boosts it.
Because a nature is fixed when a spirit is first obtained, trainers who want optimal builds either breed for the desired nature or use a modification item to neutralize the downside later. There are no purely neutral natures in the current build; every nature involves a trade-off.
The English nature names used below are literal translations of the in-game Chinese names. There is no official English client yet, so the Chinese name (shown alongside each entry) is the authoritative identifier; treat the English form as a community convenience.
A nature touches two of a spirit’s six battle stats: Physical Attack, Physical Defense, Magic Attack, Magic Defense, Speed, and HP. One of these is boosted and one is reduced. Unlike the nature systems in some other creature games, HP is a full participant here: several natures raise HP and several others lower it.
The boosted stat receives a positive modifier and the reduced stat takes a penalty of the same magnitude. These modifiers apply on top of the spirit’s base stats and other cultivation investment, so the practical size of the swing grows with how much the spirit is built up. The damage math itself runs through the Combat System, where a physical move scales off Physical Attack against Physical Defense and a magic move scales off Magic Attack against Magic Defense.
You can view a spirit’s nature and its exact stat effect in-game on the spirit’s detail panel. Because the boosted and reduced stats are tied together, the goal is always to pick a nature that dumps a stat the spirit does not use (for example, a magic attacker losing Physical Attack) while boosting the stat it relies on.
The table lists all 30 natures grouped by the stat they boost. The in-game Chinese name is the authoritative identifier. The "Personality" column gives the descriptive flavor traits the game shows for each nature, which have no effect on stats.

Natures are normally permanent, but the game provides items that adjust how a nature affects a spirit’s stats. These items do not change the nature itself; they change whether its bonus and penalty are active.
The Broken Magic Mirror (残缺魔镜) removes a nature’s negative stat effect while keeping the positive bonus intact, effectively turning any nature into a pure upside. It is the most desirable nature modification for competitive play. It is crafted through the Alchemy Station, and the craft is capped, so it should be reserved for your most important competitive spirits rather than spent on a spirit you are still evaluating.
The Mirror Frame (镜面相框) removes both the positive and negative effects of a nature, making it behave as if it had no stat impact at all. This is a niche choice, since giving up the boost is usually undesirable, but it can help a spirit that needs a perfectly balanced spread with no weak point.
The best nature depends on the role a spirit fills. In every case the ideal nature boosts the stat the spirit relies on while dumping a stat it rarely uses. The natures named below all exist in the live build; match the Chinese name in-game.
Role | Recommended Nature | Effect | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
Physical attacker | 固执 (Stubborn) | +Physical Attack, -Magic Attack | Maximizes physical damage while shedding the unused Magic Attack stat. |
Magic attacker | 偏执 (Obsessive) | +Magic Attack, -Magic Defense | Boosts magic damage; pair with a defensive teammate if the lost Magic Defense matters. |
Fast physical sweeper | 胆小 (Timid) | +Speed, -Physical Attack | For speedsters that lean on magic or status moves rather than physical attacks. |
Fast attacker keeping power | 开朗 (Cheerful) | +Speed, -Magic Attack | Outspeeds threats while keeping Physical Attack intact for physical hitters. |
Physical tank | 大胆 (Daring) | +Physical Defense, -Physical Attack | Hardens against physical hits; ideal for a wall that uses status or magic moves. |
Magic tank | 警惕 (Wary) | +Magic Defense, -Physical Attack | Absorbs magic damage while dumping the unused Physical Attack stat. |
Bulky HP-based wall | 平和 (Peaceful) | +HP, -Magic Attack | Raises the raw HP pool for a sponge that does not rely on magic offense. |
Natures play a major role in breeding. When two spirits produce an egg, the parents’ natures influence the hatchling’s nature, so trainers who want a specific nature often breed across several generations, selecting parents with the target nature to raise the odds of passing it down.
The standard approach for a top-tier competitive spirit is two steps: breed for the correct nature first, then apply a Broken Magic Mirror to strip the negative penalty. That combination produces a spirit whose nature is pure upside on the stat that matters.
Check a spirit’s nature before pouring resources into its cultivation. A bad nature undermines an entire build, and it is cheaper to start over than to fix it late.
The reduced stat hurts less when it is a stat the spirit never uses. A magic attacker losing Physical Attack loses nothing of practical value.
Because the Broken Magic Mirror craft is capped, treat it as a weekly priority and save it for the spirit you most want to perfect.
If you catch a spirit with an ideal nature but weak IVs, it is usually better to keep it and improve the stats later than to re-hunt for a perfect catch with a worse nature.
