Overview
Battle Theater (对战剧场) is a solo PVE gauntlet mode in Roco Kingdom: World. The mode tests a player's ability to build versatile teams and adapt to escalating challenges across 12 stages. Unlike the cooperative Strange Beast Flora or the endgame Territory Trial, Battle Theater is strictly a solo experience. It serves as the primary progression benchmark for players who prefer to measure their strength independently of group content.
Structure
Battle Theater is divided into 4 major stages, and each major stage contains 3 sub-stages, for a total of 12 stages. Difficulty escalates progressively from the first sub-stage to the last. Enemy spirits in later stages have significantly higher base stats, unique modifiers, and more aggressive AI patterns. Players must clear each sub-stage sequentially within a major stage before advancing to the next.
Major Stage | Sub-Stages | Difficulty | Max Stars |
|---|---|---|---|
Stage 1 | 1-1, 1-2, 1-3 | Introductory | 9 |
Stage 2 | 2-1, 2-2, 2-3 | Moderate | 9 |
Stage 3 | 3-1, 3-2, 3-3 | Hard | 9 |
Stage 4 | 4-1, 4-2, 4-3 | Expert | 9 |
Total | 12 sub-stages | - | 36 |
Scoring System
Each sub-stage awards up to 3 stars based on two performance metrics: the number of turns taken to achieve victory, and the number of spirits that survived the encounter. The maximum achievable score across all 12 stages is 36 stars.
Stars | Requirement |
|---|---|
1 Star | Clear the stage (victory regardless of turns or losses) |
2 Stars | Clear within the recommended turn count with at least half your team surviving |
3 Stars | Clear quickly with all spirits surviving; requires optimal play and strong team composition |
Stars are the primary currency earned from Battle Theater. Higher star counts unlock access to better rewards in the Battle Theater shop. Players can replay completed stages to improve their star rating without losing previously earned stars.
Stage Modifiers
Each stage has unique modifiers that force players to adapt their strategy. These modifiers define the tactical puzzle of each encounter and prevent a single team composition from sweeping the entire gauntlet.
Modifier | Effect | Counter Strategy |
|---|---|---|
Halved Energy Gain | Players generate only 5 energy per turn instead of the standard 10 | Bring spirits with low-cost skills; prioritize efficiency over raw power |
Non-Super-Effective Reduction | Attacks that are not super-effective deal significantly reduced damage | Build a team with broad type coverage to always hit for super-effective damage |
Speed Inversion | Slower spirits act first, reversing the normal speed priority | Use tanky, low-speed spirits that normally act last but benefit from going first under this modifier |
Healing Suppression | All healing effects (skills, items, traits) are reduced by 50% | Focus on offense and shields rather than sustain-based strategies |
Enhanced Counter | Enemy spirits counter-attack every time they are hit by a physical move | Use special attackers instead of physical attackers to avoid triggering counters |
Modifiers are displayed before entering each sub-stage, giving players time to adjust their team. Some modifiers stack in later stages, combining two or more effects simultaneously.
Rewards
Stars earned in Battle Theater can be exchanged at the Battle Theater shop for a variety of valuable resources.
Reward | Star Cost | Description |
|---|---|---|
Fruit Cores | Varies | Essential materials for spirit skill development and ability unlocking |
Varies | Stat upgrade and nature correction items for spirit development | |
Growth XP Boosters | Varies | Consumable items that grant direct experience to spirits |
Exclusive Title | 36 Stars (all) | Special player title for achieving a perfect 36-star clear |
Fruit Cores are the most sought-after reward, as they are required in large quantities for high-level spirit skill development and are relatively scarce from other sources.
Strategy Tips
Read the stage modifier before entering. Building a team blind is the most common reason for failed attempts
Maintain at least 3 to 4 fully-leveled teams covering different element types so you can adapt to any modifier combination
Prioritize clearing quickly over surviving with full health; the turn-count threshold is often the harder requirement for 3-star clears
For stages with the Halved Energy Gain modifier, bring spirits whose core skills cost 3 energy or less
Replay earlier stages for 3-star improvements before pushing into harder content; the cumulative star difference adds up significantly for shop purchases
The Expert-tier stages (4-1 through 4-3) often combine multiple modifiers; prepare dedicated teams for each sub-stage rather than using a single lineup
