The director has said the title is built around the theme of resolve.12121313Development Status141415-Revelation entered full production after the launch of the previous entry, and its story was finished ahead of the rest of development. By the time of the reveal the director said the game was on schedule with playtesting well underway, adding that he had personally played through the entire game around forty times. The shift to launching on several platforms at once was handled by splitting the studio into smaller groups assigned to optimize each version, with the team aiming for gameplay and presentation parity across all of them.15+Revelation entered full production after the launch of the previous entry, and its story was finished ahead of the rest of development. The shift to launching on several platforms at once was handled by splitting the studio into smaller groups assigned to optimize each version, with the team aiming for gameplay and presentation parity across all of them.16161717Revelation followed a three-year production cycle, the shortest of the three Remake games. The director credited that pace to keeping most of the core team from the earlier entries together rather than breaking it up between projects, which let their experience and tools carry over instead of being rebuilt for each game.181819-The director has since put a figure on that continuity: more than ninety percent of the staff who worked on the first game in the Remake series stayed with the project through to Revelation, across a trilogy that has taken the team over ten years and three games to build. He has pointed to keeping the group together between projects, rather than disbanding and re-forming it, as a large part of why each instalment came together as quickly as it did.19+The director has since put a figure on that continuity: around ninety-five percent of the staff who worked on the previous entry carried straight over to Revelation. A save from Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade grants a Chocobo and Moogle Summon Materia, while a save from Final Fantasy VII Rebirth grants a Phoenix Summon Materia.24242525Future Content262627-Ahead of launch the team decided against producing downloadable content for Revelation. The director explained that they received many requests for add-on content for the previous entry, but chose to focus all of the studio's development resources on finishing the main game and releasing it as soon as possible. He added that the team would actively consider post-launch downloadable content if there is strong demand from players after release. No such content has been announced.27+Ahead of launch the team had not committed either way on downloadable content for Revelation. Asked directly, the director said nothing had crystallized and he could not say the studio was going to make any, but that if there is genuine demand from players he would want to consider it. The decision that was actually taken concerned the previous entry: add-on content for it was set aside so the studio's development resources could go into finishing this finale and releasing it sooner. No such content has been announced.28282929He has since ruled out the idea that the trilogy's conclusion is being held back for an add-on. The story finishes inside the main game, and he has said the team is serious about ending the series with Revelation and is developing it to that plan. If downloadable content does happen, his description of it is a spin-off built around a single character and their untold story rather than any continuation of the main plot, in the mould of the character-focused side episode the series has released before. Nothing has been decided and nothing has been announced.30303131Physical Edition32323333Whether Revelation ships on a disc or a cartridge is still open. The director has said the team is working through what the product lineup will be and cannot say anything definitive yet, but that he is pushing internally to make some form of physical edition possible. The obstacles he has named are practical: every platform holder sets its own rules, and storage limits on key cards and disc capacity both feed into which format would actually suit a game this size. He has said he expects some kind of packaged edition to remain viable even as download codes become the norm, and that he would be sorry to see the culture around physical copies disappear.34343535Store Listings36363737Store pages for Revelation are live and open for wishlisting on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the PlayStation Store. All three list the game as arriving in 2027, and none of them carries a price, an edition breakdown, a preorder button, or any downloadable content entry. Square Enix has not announced editions or pricing.383839-The PlayStation listing records support for Remote Play and for DualSense vibration and adaptive trigger effects, and flags the game as PS5 Pro Enhanced.
