Marill is a Water/Fairy-type Pokemon in Pokemon Pokopia, classified as the Aqua Mouse Pokemon (Dex #115). Its oil-filled tail functions as a buoy, so it can handle even rivers with strong currents without trouble. Marill is the middle stage in its family, between Azurill and Azumarill. It can be found at two habitats: the Hydrated Yellow Tall Grass (as a Rare visitor) and the Dock (as a Common visitor). Marill carries the Water and Hype specialties.
Marill appears at two different habitats. It is easier to find at the Dock habitat, where it is a Common visitor.
Yellow tall grass resting by the water. This habitat is described as "a nice spot for Pokemon after they're done swimming."
Item | Quantity | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Yellow Tall Grass | 4 | Found naturally in marshy and grassy areas |
Water | 2 | Fresh water tiles placed adjacent to the grass |
Marill appears as a Rare visitor here. Other Pokemon at this habitat include Azurill (Common), Piplup (Common), and Prinplup (Rare).
A cozy little dock on the beach. Swimming Pokemon might stop by now and then.
Item | Quantity | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Walkway | 4 | Standard walkway tiles |
Streetlight (any) | 1 | Requires power connection |
Ocean Water | 2 | Must be placed near the ocean or coastline |
Marill appears as a Common visitor at the Dock. Azumarill (Rare) also spawns here, so this habitat lets you find both.
The Dock habitat requires ocean water, so it must be built near a coastline. Look for beaches or shoreline areas where you can place walkways extending toward the water. The Hydrated Yellow Tall Grass habitat can be set up in wetland areas like Bleak Beach or similar regions with natural water sources.
The easiest way to befriend Marill is to build the Dock habitat at a coastline, since Marill appears there as a Common visitor. Place four walkway tiles, a streetlight with power, and position the habitat near ocean water. Marill should appear relatively quickly. Walk up and interact with it to add Marill to your island.
Marill has two specialties:
Water: Marill can interact with water-related items and environments, helping to manage water features on your island.
Hype: Marill generates excitement and boosts the mood of nearby Pokemon and island activities.

"The oil-filled tail functions as a buoy, so it's fine even in rivers with strong currents."
Marill is the middle stage of a three-member family. In the main Pokemon series, Azurill evolves into Marill through friendship, and Marill evolves into Azumarill at level 18. In Pokopia, there is no evolution mechanic. Marill shares the Hydrated Yellow Tall Grass habitat with Azurill and shares the Dock habitat with Azumarill, so building either habitat gives you access to multiple family members.
Marill is also listed as a compatible companion for Clodsire, meaning they share similar ideal environment preferences.
Build the Dock habitat for the best chance of finding Marill quickly, since it is a Common visitor there rather than Rare at the Hydrated Yellow Tall Grass.
The Dock habitat also attracts Azumarill as a Rare visitor, so you can collect two family members from a single habitat.
Marill and Azurill share the same specialties (Water and Hype), so if you need those specialties, either one will work.
The streetlight at the Dock habitat requires a power source. Consider placing a Pokemon with the Generate specialty nearby, like Ampharos, to keep it powered.
