Eat is a specialty unique to Mosslax, a special Pokopia-exclusive variant of Snorlax covered in moss and rocks. When you offer Mosslax food, he consumes it and grants a temporary buff to your settlement based on the food's flavor. Only one buff is active at a time, and it lasts for the remainder of the in-game day.
Mosslax is the only Pokemon with the Eat specialty in the Pokedex. The buff system is a significant reason to prioritize cooking variety in Pokopia's cooking progression.

Exclusive. Found sleeping near a cliff in Withered Wasteland early in the story. |
Approach Mosslax during the day (he sleeps less at night but can still accept offerings).
Select the "Here, try this" option and choose any cooked meal or raw food item from your inventory.
Mosslax consumes the food and grants a buff that matches the food's primary flavor profile.
The buff lasts until 05:00 the next in-game day, then resets. You can feed Mosslax again after the reset to pick a new buff.
Pokopia food items have five flavor profiles, and Mosslax's buff depends on which flavor you offer. See the Food Flavors article for a full list of flavored recipes.
Flavor | Buff Effect |
|---|---|
Sweet | Increases ancient artifact discovery rate during exploration |
Sour | Improves the quality of items offered by shopkeeper Pokemon |
Spicy | Increases Pokemon spawn rates in active habitats |
Bitter | Increases the chance of finding rare items when digging (Lost Relics, Music CDs) |
Dry | Increases legendary-sky encounter chances and Rainbow or Silver Feather drops |
The buff is granted immediately after Mosslax finishes eating and lasts until the next in-game day resets at 05:00. Cooked meals produce a stronger buff than raw ingredients.
One feeding per in-game day. Trying to feed Mosslax a second time on the same day is declined.
The buff carries across all regions and applies to any action taken during that day.
Leftover food stacks in your inventory are unchanged; you only spend one item per feeding.
Mosslax's buff does not stack with seasonal event bonuses. If an event is already active (for example the Sableye Event), buffs stack additively where applicable.
Mosslax is one of Pokopia's special-variant Pokemon, alongside Peakychu (Illuminate), Smearguru (Paint), and Chef Dente (Party). Each is a one-of-a-kind Pokemon with a unique specialty that cannot be replicated elsewhere.
Always feed Mosslax at the start of a play session. Picking the right flavor up front ensures the buff applies to all your daily activities.
Save Spicy dishes for days when you plan to build or place new habitats. The increased spawn rate speeds up Pokedex filling.
Save Bitter dishes for days focused on Lost Relic hunting or Music CD collecting; the rare-item drop rate applies to buried dig targets.
Dry dishes pair well with open-air exploration where Ho-Oh and Lugia sky encounters are possible.
Raw food works, but cooked meals grant a stronger buff. Prioritize finishing recipes via the Cooking Guide before feeding Mosslax for important play sessions.
