Cooking is a core gameplay system in Pokemon Pokopia that allows players to prepare meals from gathered ingredients. Eating cooked food fully restores PP and powers up a specific Ditto transformation move. Each type of food boosts a different move, increasing its range, power, or unlocking additional effects.
Cooking is unlocked during the Rocky Ridges storyline when the player rescues Chef Dente, a special Greedent trapped inside a barrel. After freeing Chef Dente by using Cut on the chains binding them, he teaches the player how to cook meals using ingredients they have collected.
Each food type requires a specific cooking station:
Food Type | Station Required | Move Boosted |
|---|---|---|
Salad | Chopping Board | Leafage |
Soup | Cooking Pot + Stove (or Campfire) | Water Gun |
Bread | Bread Oven (requires Burn specialty Pokemon) | Cut |
Hamburger Steak | Frying Pan + Stove (or Campfire) | Rock Smash |
Stoves and campfires both work as heat sources for soups and hamburger steaks. A Bread Oven requires a Pokemon with the Burn specialty (such as Charmander, Charmeleon, or Torchic) to operate.
There are five flavors in Pokemon Pokopia. Each Pokemon has a favorite flavor listed in their Pokedex entry. Giving a Pokemon food with their preferred flavor increases their Comfort Level more than other flavors.

|---|---|
Sweet | Loved by many gentle and cute Pokemon |
Spicy | Preferred by energetic and fire-affiliated Pokemon |
Dry | Favored by composed and intellectual Pokemon |
Bitter | Preferred by tough and earthy Pokemon |
Sour | Liked by playful and mischievous Pokemon |

Hamburger Steaks are made in a Frying Pan over a Stove or Campfire and boost the Rock Smash transformation. After eating a hamburger steak, Rock Smash can break through all materials including stone and steel.
There are six hamburger steak variants following the same flavor pattern as other food types. The key ingredient for all hamburger steak recipes involves combining meat-like ingredients with grains.
During the Time to Party! quest in Rocky Ridges, Chef Dente leads a special group cooking session using a Party Cooking Pot. This large-scale recipe requires 15 Leppa Berries, 15 Wheat, 15 Beans, and 5 Honey to make curry for the party celebration. Chef Dente's Party specialty increases cooking yields when cooking alongside the player.
Always eat food before tackling tough terrain; the move boosts are significant and can save time.
Place Storage Boxes next to cooking stations so you can pull ingredients directly from storage.
