Planet Zoo 2 offers three core ways to play, each suited to a different style of player.

Career mode is a structured, globe-trotting campaign in which the player takes on the role of a new Conservation Coordinator for an organisation called the Fauna and Ecosystems Network. The job sends them around the world to manage zoos and Wildlife Reserves across a range of scenarios and set goals.
Franchise mode connects players into a shared, international network of interconnected zoos and Wildlife Reserves, with common progression and research. It includes an online element that lets players trade animals with one another and take part in community conservation, and it works across platforms.
Sandbox mode removes restrictions so players can build freely, and it lets them choose their preferred level of simulation and challenge, from a relaxed creative space to a more demanding management game.
In any mode, players can drop into a first-person guest perspective to explore a zoo from ground level, whether their own or one created by someone else. Buildings, habitats, and blueprints can be shared and downloaded through a cross-platform community hub, so designs move freely between players on different systems.
