Editions and Pre-Orders
August 7, 2026 at 09:58 AM
Created page covering the Standard and Deluxe editions, pricing, the six Deluxe species, the pre-order Bonus Content Pack, and the 20 October console disc release
Planet Zoo 2 is a premium, buy-to-play game sold in two digital editions, with a separate physical disc release for consoles a week after launch. Both digital editions include the pre-purchase Bonus Content Pack, so the practical difference between them is the extra animals and decorative signage that come with the higher tier. Pre-orders opened alongside the announcement in May 2026 and run on Steam, the Epic Games Store, the PlayStation Store, and the Xbox store. Release and platform details are covered under Development.

Edition | Recommended Price | Contents |
|---|---|---|
Standard Edition | £39.99 / $49.99 / €49.99 | The base game plus the Bonus Content Pack |
Deluxe Edition | £54.99 / $64.99 / €64.99 | The base game, the Bonus Content Pack, six additional animal species, and a set of exclusive decorative animal signs |
The six species bundled with the Deluxe Edition are not part of the base roster. They span every new habitat type the sequel introduces, so the pack adds birds, aquarium fish, and terrestrial mammals rather than concentrating on one group. All six already have full entries in the in-game reference described under Animals and Welfare.
Species | Group | Found In | Conservation Status |
|---|---|---|---|
Golden Eagle | Bird | North America, Europe, Northern Africa, Asia | Least concern |
Golden Lion Tamarin | Mammal | South America | Endangered |
Great Hammerhead | Shark | Worldwide tropical and warm temperate oceans | Critically endangered |
Axolotl | Amphibian | North America | Critically endangered |
Blue and Gold Fusilier | Reef fish | Indo-Pacific reefs | Least concern |
Longfin Batfish | Reef fish | Western Pacific coasts and reefs | Least concern |
Pre-purchasing either edition unlocks the Bonus Content Pack on launch day. It is a decorative bundle rather than a gameplay advantage, and it slots into the shop and signage sets described under Building and Construction.
An exclusive Toucan Eat shop and matching signage
Three unique animal donation bins
A tiger photo stand-in wall
Physical disc editions launch on Tuesday 20 October 2026, one week after the digital release, and are sold through major retailers. The disc versions cover PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only. There is no disc release for PC.
Subscribing to the game's mailing list grants a separate in-game reward: a brass statue of the Hawksbill Turtle. Frontier notes that the statue shown in promotional material is concept art and the finished in-game model may differ.
Frontier has not announced any downloadable content. Asked directly about future add-ons, the studio has said only that the team is focused on launch and has nothing to share about content beyond it. Nothing has been confirmed about a season pass, expansion packs, or an animal-pack cadence, so any such plans remain unannounced.
