Overview
Petit Planet (Chinese: Xing Bugu Di, meaning "star valley") is a cosmic life simulation game developed by miHoYo Co., Ltd. and published outside China by HoYoverse (Cognosphere Pte., Ltd.). It is HoYoverse's first entry into the life simulation genre, departing from the studio's action RPG titles like Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail. The game was originally known under the trademark "Astaweave Haven," which was abandoned before the official reveal.
Players take on the role of a newcomer employed by Loomi Corp, a galactic organization that manages planets. The core gameplay loop involves growing your own planet by collecting a resource called Luca, befriending anthropomorphic animal characters called Neighbors, and exploring a wider universe of galaxies.
Announcement and development
Petit Planet was announced on September 27, 2025 at the Tokyo Game Show (TGS 2025). The game represents miHoYo's effort to reach a wider audience beyond action RPG players. As of February 2026, a reliable leaker has stated that the game is in the "final stages of development." No official release date has been announced.
Beta tests
The first Closed Beta, called the "Coziness Test," ran from November 7 to December 1, 2025, on PC and iOS only. Console platforms (Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox) have not been confirmed. A separate long-term playtest called the Staycation Program is ongoing as a small-scale, closed, and confidential testing effort.
Platforms and business model
Petit Planet is free-to-play and available on PC, iOS, and Android with full cross-platform support. During the beta period there was no gacha system; the final monetization model has not been confirmed. The game features two AI chatbots: one for player assistance and one that acts as a barista NPC.
Setting
Petit Planet takes place across multiple galaxies, each home to different Neighbors and cultures. Players begin on their own small planet and gradually expand it by nurturing the Luca Arbour. The game has no combat. Instead, progression comes through farming, fishing, crafting, socializing, and exploration.
Core gameplay
The game's central resource is Luca, the life energy of a planet. Players earn Luca through daily activities and offer it to the Luca Arbour to unlock new areas and customization options. The game uses a real-time clock synchronized with HoYoverse servers, which prevents time manipulation.
