Oni-Kui Mushi is a Genma in Onimusha: Way of the Sword built around concealment rather than direct confrontation. It appeared in the playable demo Capcom ran at several games events, and the director has explained both its name and its behaviour in first-party developer commentary.
Name and Appearance
The name is as literal as it sounds: this Genma eats demons in Hell. The countless threads trailing from its body are not decoration but the transformed hair of the demons it has already devoured, which makes its silhouette a record of what it has consumed. Capcom presents the design as deliberately unsettling rather than imposing, in contrast to the large bosses that dominate the game's trailers.
Behaviour
Oni-Kui Mushi is a classic ambush predator. It keeps itself hidden and weaves a web to trap and devour prey rather than closing distance, so an encounter with one usually begins with the environment behaving strangely rather than with an enemy charging into view.
Finding One With Oni Vision
The complication is that Oni-Kui Mushi is normally invisible. Musashi Miyamoto can only see its form by using Oni Vision, which makes this Genma one of the clearest demonstrations of why that ability exists outside of scripted moments.
Capcom has described the practical tell in plain terms. If a route that should be passable seems to be blocked by nothing, the Oni Gauntlet may react. Using Oni Vision at that moment can reveal an Oni-Kui Mushi lurking nearby and doing its best to avoid detection. The gauntlet's reaction is the prompt; Oni Vision is the confirmation.
