Curious Cases is the in-game record of the stranger things Musashi Miyamoto runs into across Eastern Kyoto. Each entry pairs an account of one of his own odd experiences with the local legend that surrounds it and a commentary on the two. The feature is also the name Capcom gave to a nine-part official video series released in the weeks before launch.
The In-Game Feature
Curious Cases is not available from the opening of the game. It unlocks at a set point in the story, and entries are added as the player advances, which makes it a progress-linked record rather than a collectible set gathered by searching the map. That distinguishes it from Genma Notes, which are physical pickups scattered around Kyoto and its environs.

Both sit in the main menu alongside the progress and equipment screens, and both function as the game's lore layer rather than as mechanical upgrades. Nothing in either record changes Musashi's stats.
The Video Series
Capcom ran a nine-episode video series under the same name through the final weeks before release, narrated by Yuriri Naka, who voices the Oni Lady in the English version. Each episode covered one character's history and fate, working through the protagonist first and then the Formidable Foes.

The running order is worth noting on its own. Lady Murasaki and the Man in White were held until the last two slots, immediately before launch, while the boss roster was spread across the preceding fortnight. The series was also the first official material to treat Lady Murasaki as a named character rather than as part of the Oni Lady material.
Reading the Two Together
The video series and the in-game record share a name and a framing but not a scope. The videos are character studies covering the cast Capcom was prepared to reveal before release. The in-game Curious Cases is built around incidents rather than people, and it keeps filling in after the point at which the video series stops. Anything the videos establish about a character should be treated as pre-launch marketing framing; the in-game record is the version the shipped game actually tells.
