Complete district article covering geography, tourism, landmarks, gameplay, and expansion context
Miguel District is one of the four major districts of Hethereau and serves as the city's premier tourist destination. Defined by its lush greenery, natural scenic areas, and iconic landmark towers, Miguel District is the kind of place where Hethereau's residents go for weekend getaways without ever leaving the city limits. The district was added during the Containment Test in July 2025, the first global English test phase, as part of a major expansion that increased Hethereau's total area to approximately 1.5 times its original size.
Miguel District is home to Hethereau's largest natural scenic belt, a sprawling stretch of parkland, gardens, and natural terrain that winds through the district. Unlike the urban density of New Herland District or the waterfront character of Bridge Crossing, Miguel District emphasizes green spaces and scenic views. The district's terrain includes rolling hills, manicured gardens, tree-lined boulevards, and open meadows that provide visual contrast to the concrete and glass of other districts.
The natural scenic belt is not just decorative — it serves as a traversal corridor connecting different parts of the district, with paths suitable for walking, running, or cycling. Players exploring on foot will find hidden alcoves, scenic overlooks, and rest areas throughout the greenway.
Miguel District is known for its iconic landmark towers that punctuate the skyline. These towers serve as both visual landmarks for navigation and points of interest for exploration. Their architectural style blends modern design with distinctive silhouettes that make them recognizable from anywhere in Hethereau. Some towers may contain interior spaces with shops, quest givers, or observation decks that provide panoramic views of the surrounding city and coastline.
The district's identity revolves around tourism and leisure. Miguel District is where Hethereau's working population comes to unwind, with attractions designed for day trips and weekend excursions. The area features:
Scenic viewpoints — Multiple elevated locations offering views of the city, ocean, and surrounding landscape.
Recreational facilities — Open spaces for outdoor activities, potentially including areas for in-game social activities described in the Multiplayer article.
Restaurants and cafes — NPC-run establishments where players may interact with vendors, complete food-related quests, or simply enjoy the ambiance.
Cultural attractions — Museums, galleries, or exhibits that tie into Hethereau's lore and history.
Miguel District was introduced alongside New Herland District during the Containment Test in July 2025. This expansion was significant because it was the first time global players (outside China) experienced Hethereau, and the city they explored was substantially larger than what Chinese CBT participants had seen. The two new districts added roughly 50% more explorable terrain to the city.
The Containment Test also introduced new characters like Hotori, Baicang, and Hathor, some of whose story content takes place in the newly added districts. Miguel District's inclusion gave the city a much-needed nature-focused area that balanced the urban density of other zones.
Miguel District contains quest lines, collectibles, and exploration challenges appropriate to its tourist theme. The natural terrain provides opportunities for traversal-focused gameplay using the movement abilities described in the Vehicles and Traversal article — climbing landmark towers, gliding between scenic overlooks, and navigating the winding paths of the scenic belt.
Anomaly encounters in Miguel District tend to contrast sharply with the district's peaceful aesthetic. Supernatural events in a tourist paradise create a particularly unsettling atmosphere, as manicured gardens and cheerful promenades twist into something unrecognizable during active Anomaly phases.
