Monster Taming and Pets

Clarified that pets start in young forms and unlock riding and cooperative attacks through evolution
In Monster Fantasy the creatures you hunt do not have to stay your enemies. After you defeat a monster you can tame it and keep it as a pet, turning a hard won battle into a lasting companion. This is the link between the action of the hunt and the cozy, long term side of the game, and it gives every encounter described under Monsters a second purpose beyond simply collecting materials.
Pets are not just for show. A tamed creature aids you in two important ways: it helps you explore the wide world of Eldoras, and it fights at your side in Combat System situations. Having the right pet along can change how you approach both a journey across the map and a battle against another monster.
What makes the pet system special is that your companions grow with you. A tamed creature starts out in its young form, then ages and gradually evolves, unlocking new abilities as it matures. Riding and cooperative attacks are among the abilities gained this way, so they are rewards for raising a creature rather than things every pet can do from the moment you tame it. A pet you tame early can become something far more capable later, which rewards you for raising and traveling with the same creatures across many hours of play. On top of that, certain creatures can be ridden. A mount lets you travel across the kingdom's biomes more easily, and you can also ride into battle and fight alongside your steed.

Facet | Details |
|---|---|
Acquire | Tame a monster after you have defeated it to keep it as a pet |
Aid | Pets help with exploration and fight alongside you in combat |
Grow and evolve | Tamed creatures begin in a young form, then age and gradually evolve, unlocking new abilities and skills |
Ride | Riding is unlocked through a creature's growth, and lets you travel across biomes |
Fight mounted | Cooperative attacks are another unlocked ability, letting a grown creature fight alongside you or carry you into battle |
Taken together, the taming and pet system rewards patience. The more you hunt, tame, and raise your creatures, the stronger and more useful your companions become, blending the thrill of the hunt with the satisfaction of nurturing a growing menagerie.
