Monster Fantasy is an action RPG that blends cozy life simulation with creature taming. It is developed and published by Jotoyo, a roughly 20-person studio in Chengdu, China, founded by Allan Xai. The game is set in the Kingdom of Eldoras, described as a world where legends meet everyday life. You play a customizable amnesiac hero who is free to live in whatever way suits you.
The defining idea is choice between two playstyles. You can follow the adventurer path, hunting giant monsters for materials and rewards, or you can settle into village life and pursue crafting, cooking, fishing, and home building. Both sit side by side, so you can switch freely and play at your own pace. The studio's stated ambition is to break down the barrier between action games and cozy games.
Combat is action based and built around a free class system with four classes: Warrior, Mage, Archer, and Martial Artist. Skills are tied to weapons, and a single character can unlock everything, so you may specialize or develop all four. You fight alongside tamed creatures and recruited companions. See the Combat System and Monster Taming and Pets pages for how hunts, pets, and riding come together.
The world is populated by around 100 villagers, each with a distinct personality. These AI-Powered NPCs use large-language-model AI and text-to-speech to hold real-time spoken conversations rather than fixed scripted lines. You can build friendships, recruit villagers to fight on hunts, and work together to create a home. The game supports single-player and online co-op, including LAN play.
