Anomalies are supernatural phenomena that deviate from the normal laws of reality. They are the primary threat that the Bureau of Anomaly Control is tasked with monitoring, containing, and nullifying.

Classification

Anomalies are classified by threat level, with Class Five being considered relatively low-threat. Higher class anomalies require more specialized response teams and containment protocols.

Some anomalies, like the Hyper Vortex, can be neutralized through a process called nullification. Others may require temporary containment until a nullification method is discovered.

The Nexus

The Nexus appears to be a core component or manifestation point of certain anomalies. According to field observations, directly observing the core of an anomaly can accelerate its nullification process.

Some anomalies exhibit unusual properties - described as 'the anomaly you can't look at' - suggesting that visual contact may trigger specific effects.

Homology Theory

One of the existing hypotheses in academia is the Homology Theory, which suggests that the supernatural abilities of Espers may share the same origin as anomalies.

Simply put, this theory proposes that Esper abilities are not powers derived from human functions, but rather powers granted to humans - possibly from the same source as anomalies. Whether these abilities share the same source or are in opposition to anomalies remains inconclusive.
