The Stash
June 7, 2026 at 05:05 PM
Initial version: the Stash storage system (Louis the Stashkeeper, capacity, expansion bags, the Vault)
The Stash is a Living's secure storage within The Chateau, the place where hard-won loot and currency can rest safely between runs. Anything a player wants to protect from the dangers of an Expedition is kept here, away from the chaos beyond the walls.
The Stash is reached by speaking with Louis, the young and eager Stashkeeper stationed in the Outer Ramparts of the Chateau. It is a player's primary point of storage, loadout preparation, and resource consolidation after a run. Each character a player unlocks keeps their own unique Stash. When a player returns from an Expedition, their funds are transferred automatically into the Stash and held in a dedicated currency slot, while items can be deposited or withdrawn as the player prepares for the next outing.
Louis provides a modest starting space, enough to survive on but not enough to grow complacent. As a player's reputation with Louis improves, he grants access to additional expansion slots.
Slot Type | Starting Amount |
|---|---|
Item Slots | 50 |
Weapon Slots | 10 |
Expansion Slots | 4 |
Expansion slots hold bags, which are found or purchased during a player's travels and used to grow the Stash. Some bags are built to store items in general, while others are dedicated to weapons, and the bags a player chooses determine the overall shape of their Stash. There is a deliberate tradeoff: every bag committed to expanding the Stash is one less bag available to carry valuables on an Expedition, so growing storage at home means giving up some carrying capacity in the field.
As a player progresses through the Chateau, their higher-level characters gain access to the Vault. Unlike a personal Stash, which belongs to a single character, the Vault is shared across every character on a player's account, making it the place to keep resources a player wants available to all of their Living.
