Update with verified ice kit and Northern Wilds / Wolf Banner tribe lore
Wang Zhaojun (王昭君) is a Resonance (共鸣) in Honor of Kings: World, confirmed in the S0 Season launch roster on April 10, 2026. She is an 强攻 (Offensive) ranged Resonance whose combat style revolves around ice and snow sorcery. Her narrative identity in the game positions her as a Han princess sent as a diplomatic envoy to the Wolf Banner tribe (狼旗) in the Northern Wilds, a framing that connects her directly to one of the major post-launch regions of the game's world.
Wang Zhaojun is one of the classical Four Beauties of ancient China. The historical Wang Zhaojun was a Han Dynasty court lady who was married to a Xiongnu chieftain for diplomatic reasons, becoming a symbol of peace between Han China and its northern neighbors. Honor of Kings: World adapts this historical backdrop: in the game's lore she is sent from the Han court to the Wolf Banner tribe (狼旗), a nomadic people of the Northern Wilds. Her time with the tribe shapes her identity into that of the "Ice-Snow Goddess of the North Wilds" (北荒冰雪之神), giving her command over cold-aspect Flow magic.
As a ranged Offensive Resonance, Wang Zhaojun deals burst and sustained damage through ice and snow abilities. Her kit creates freeze and slow effects on enemies, which control space and set up follow-up damage. She is one of the clearest examples of elemental-identity design in the S0 roster: her abilities have clearly defined cold effects that interact with other Resonances and with the environment.
Her freeze effects immobilize enemies, creating set-up windows for allied Offensive Resonances
Ice-type Flow can freeze certain terrain features (e.g., flowing water) to create climbable surfaces or new paths, per the broader Flow system
Pairs naturally with melee Offensive Resonances who benefit from frozen targets unable to counter-attack
In boss encounters, her slows can extend break windows and reduce the pressure on the frontline
Stay at range and chain ice attacks to keep enemies slowed or frozen
Use her cold abilities to set up ally burst damage rather than purely for her own DPS
Position with an eye for line-of-sight; her ranged abilities are less effective in tight corridors
In co-op, communicate with melee allies about when you will freeze a boss so they can chain follow-ups
Against crowd-heavy encounters, prioritize multi-target freeze over single-target burst
Wang Zhaojun's story role in Honor of Kings: World is tied to the Northern Wilds (北荒) region, which is confirmed in lore but has not fully launched at S0. Her presence in the S0 launch roster suggests that her questline serves as an introduction to the Wolf Banner tribe and the broader Northern Wilds narrative, setting up future regional content.
