Overview

Perfect Dodge is the universal defensive mechanic in Honor of Kings: World. Every Flow Style has access to a dodge input with a base cooldown, and every player can use a dodge to escape incoming damage. When the dodge is timed to coincide precisely with the moment of impact, it becomes a perfect dodge and triggers bonus effects that reward mechanical precision. Perfect Dodge works alongside the Parry System to give players two distinct defensive tools, each suited to different situations.

How It Works

Press the dodge input just before an enemy attack connects. A standard dodge moves you out of the way and grants brief invincibility frames during the roll or step animation. A perfect dodge, triggered when the timing is precise, extends the invincibility window, triggers a brief slow-motion or time-dilation effect on the surrounding scene, and opens an immediate counter opportunity. Some Flow Styles consume the perfect dodge to trigger a scripted counterstrike; others let the player follow up freely with a boosted ability or combo.

Why It Matters

• Universal availability: every hero style has a dodge, so no loadout is locked out of defensive options

• Rewards enemy-pattern mastery: players who read windups rather than reacting to swings consistently earn bonus damage windows

• Safe against unparriable attacks: grabs, slams, and AoE moves cannot be parried but can be perfect-dodged

• Works in every fight type: open-world encounters, dungeon clears, boss battles, and PvP all use the same dodge core

Timing Windows

Perfect dodge windows vary by enemy type and attack speed. Standard open-world enemies have generous windows that let new players practice the mechanic. Boss attacks and elite mob strings have tighter windows and often chain moves designed to punish players who dodge only the first hit. Learning the full attack pattern of an enemy, rather than reacting to individual swings, is the main way to convert dodges into perfect dodges consistently.

Interaction with Other Systems

Perfect Dodge pairs well with the Posture Break System: a successful perfect dodge tends to feed the posture meter, and the slow-motion window gives the player a clean opportunity to follow up with high-posture-damage abilities. It also integrates with the Dual-Class System: the moment of a perfect dodge is a natural beat for swapping Flow Styles mid-combo, since style-switching has no animation lock. Some advanced players use perfect dodges as the trigger point for style-swap burst combos that would otherwise be hard to execute under pressure.

Tips

• Practice on standard enemies first; their generous dodge windows are the best place to develop timing feel

• Watch enemy body language, not just the weapon; many windups telegraph through the shoulders and feet before the weapon swings

• Don't rely on dodge spam; cooldown exists to force focus on the timing

• Against unparriable attacks (grabs, AoE slams), dodge is your only tool; memorize those specific moves first
