Overview

Kai (铠) is a Resonance (共鸣) in Honor of Kings: World, confirmed in the S0 Season launch roster on April 10, 2026. He is a 对抗 (Confrontation) Resonance whose combat identity revolves around parrying enemy strikes and landing high-impact counterattacks. Per Baidu Baike, his backstory frames him as the eldest son of the former Haidu family (海都家族) who inherited the ancestral Demon Armor and now serves in the Great Wall Guard Army alongside Mulan. He is the only S0 launch hero whose kit is explicitly built around a named parry stance, which is why HoKW marketing singled him out as the parry user.

Note on naming: Kai is his Chinese name (铠). In Tencent's global MOBA hero database, the localized English name for hero ID 193 is spelled "KAIZER". Whether the final HoKW English localization will use "Kai" or "Kaizer" has not been confirmed.

Backstory (per GamerSky compendium)

"原海都家族的长子，继承了魔铠之力。为了摆脱宿命的折磨而远离家乡，如今是长城守卫军的一员。" ("The eldest son of the former Haidu family, who inherited the power of the Demon Armor. To escape the torment of destiny, he left his homeland and is now a member of the Great Wall Guard Army.")

Verified HoKW Kit

The following skill names are taken from GamerSky's official HoKW hero compendium (https://www.gamersky.com/handbook/202604/2117382_11.shtml), which carries Tencent-sourced skill text verbatim.

The parry stance (Blade Parry) is the signature defensive mechanic. When Kai enters the stance and an enemy attack would land during the window, the attack is caught and the player can activate Extreme Blade Counter for a two-stage retaliation. Successful parries build Momentum, which feeds into Kai's offensive abilities and keeps his damage output high. Unlike the MOBA version, HoKW's Kai kit is built for action RPG timing rather than MOBA wave clearing.

Note on "Blade Resonance"

Earlier English-language coverage and aggregator sites (notably LDShop) described Kai's parry as "Blade Resonance." This term does NOT appear in any Tencent-sourced material or in GamerSky's compendium. The canonical Chinese name for Kai's signature parry is 锋刃相抵 ("Blade Parry"), and the follow-up counter is 极刃反击 ("Extreme Blade Counter"). The wiki has been updated accordingly. If you see "Blade Resonance" on third-party sites, treat it as an LDShop stylistic translation rather than an official skill name.

Combat Role

As a 对抗 (Confrontation, rendered in English press as "Tank") Resonance, Kai holds the frontline and draws enemy attention while the party's damage dealers operate from safer positions. His parry-centric kit rewards mechanical mastery: players who learn enemy attack windups can maintain near-constant offensive pressure through Blade Parry → Extreme Blade Counter loops. Against bosses with readable attack patterns, Kai is one of the highest-skill-ceiling Resonances in the S0 roster.

Playstyle Tips

• Learn enemy attack windups before committing to parry; Blade Parry has a short 0.5-second window that punishes reactive button-mashing

• Build Momentum through parries and basic strings, then spend it on Extreme Blade Strike and Extreme Blade Counter for burst damage

• Use Spinning Blade for sustain (it heals on return) when the party has no dedicated Support Resonance

• Save Undying Demonic Form for boss phases with heavy incoming damage; the super-armor lets you commit to combos through attacks that would normally interrupt you

• In co-op, pair with an Offensive Resonance (Wang Zhaojun, Leng Chun) whose burst damage benefits from the openings Kai creates through parries
