11 A talking skull accompanies the player in Graveyard Keeper 2. The studio raised it in the September 2026 developer log for one specific reason: to head off the assumption that it is the same talking skull from the first game.

They describe it instead as simply another charming talking skull with a dark sense of humour, and joke that two talking skulls in the same game would be impossible to tell apart anyway. The studio said one of its biggest challenges was writing a story that works for players beginning the series here, while still carrying something for long-time fans. Ruling out an assumed returning character is part of that: the skull is a familiar shape doing a familiar job, without the baggage of a prior relationship the new player would not have.
