11The graveyard is the title system of Graveyard Keeper 2 and the economic base everything else is built on. Lazy Bear Games has confirmed that its core idea is unchanged from the first game, that it has gained a new layer of management on top, and that it sits outside the walls of The Town rather than inside the settlement the player is rebuilding.2233Where It Sits4455The June 2026 developer log placed the cemetery in a peaceful, attractive area outside the city walls, next to the Keeper's base. The developers made a point of it: restoring The Town is one job, but the player is not forced to live in it. The Graveyard is one of the areas the game names on its location banner, alongside the Garden, the Astrologer's Tower, the underground Town Workshop and the Port Area district. The full catalogue is on Locations.6677The Green Skull Rating8899The official screenshots show how graveyard quality is scored. Each individual grave carries a floating green skull value, which can be positive or negative, and the area banner carries an overall green skull rating that the plot sums to.10101111On-screen elementWhat it showsPer grave valueA green skull icon and a number floating above the plotObserved valuesNegative three, zero, three, five and six on individual graves in one captureArea ratingA green skull figure on the Graveyard banner, reading nine in that same captureImplicationPoor plots drag the total down, so layout and upkeep matter1212The scoring rules behind those numbers have not been published. What is clear is that this green rating is a separate axis from the red skull corruption the player chases on corpses, which is covered on Zombies.13131414Graveyard Modules15151616The clearest new mechanic on the cemetery side is modular expansion driven by the Technology Tree. Unlocking a module lets the player place it on the plot, and each module provides space for a different class of object.17171818Module contents named by the studioTombsBenchesColumbariesMonumentsGraves1919Alongside the modules the sequel adds a wider set of new grave designs and decorations, so a cemetery can be laid out and styled rather than just filled. Placement uses the same grid build mode as the rest of the game, described on Buildings and Construction.20202121Corpse Supply and Quality22222323Burial duty has not gone anywhere. The developers confirmed that the Keeper still buries townsfolk who reach the end of their journey, and tied the supply directly to the rebuild.24242525The larger The Town grows, the more corpses arrive. The better supplied and more prosperous, and therefore more sinful, the settlement becomes, the better those corpses are.Better corpses carry more skulls, which feeds the corruption economy described on Zombies.26262727That loop is the reason Town Restoration is not a side project. Improving residents' lives is, in the game's blackly comic logic, a way of improving the raw material.28282929What the Graveyard Screenshot Shows30303131The published graveyard capture is set in the rain and shows the plot part way through development. A large columned mausoleum stands at the northern edge, beyond a paved forecourt. An angel statue, stone benches, a numbered stone column and several headstone styles are already placed. The player is mid-interaction with a wooden grave surround, with an on-screen prompt bound to the F key. Several plots are bare earth without a marker, and those are the ones carrying negative values.323233+3334Two further captures published with the demo on 14 September 2026 show the burial routine itself. In one, by day, the Keeper carries a wrapped body over one shoulder toward a row of three plots, one freshly dug, one filled and one marked with a wooden cross. In the other, at night, a body lies on the ground beside a wooden grave surround while the Keeper stands over it. Both are set in the same cemetery, with the columned mausoleum, a chest and a blueprint easel at its edge and a numbered stone column nearby.343536+3537Not Yet Disclosed36383739How the green skull score is calculated per grave or per decorationWhether the rating gates anything, and if so whatThe full module list and their unlock costs on the Technology TreeBody preparation steps, autopsy tools or embalming stations as discrete mechanicsWhether corpses can be refused, stored or held in reserveAny cap on graveyard size
