Created Developer Logs index covering all six official community posts and what the September 2026 log settled
Lazy Bear Games has published five posts about Graveyard Keeper 2 on the game's community hub since the reveal, plus the reveal announcement itself. They are the densest source of confirmed information about the sequel, and most of what this wiki records about its systems comes from them. This page indexes them and points at where each one's material is written up.
Date | Title | What it established | ||
|---|---|---|---|---|
9 April 2026 | Announcing Graveyard Keeper 2 | The reveal. Undead army, automation, rebuilding the Town, and a free-to-keep promotion on the original game running to 13 April. See Triple-I Initiative Reveal | |
20 May 2026 | Where Zombies Feel at Home | Underground factories, per-role specialisation, individual skill progression, names earned after ten years of service, the inversion from white skulls to red, corruption embalming, and the Possession-Free Zombie mark. See Zombies | |
16 June 2026 | The Town That Probably Exists | The Town is enterable and rebuildable, reclaimed district by district. The era of the Old Mighty God, the era of Zombie Capitalism, graveyard modules on the tech tree, and corpse quality scaling with prosperity. See The Town and Town Restoration |
30 July 2026 | Dissecting the Art and Visuals of Graveyard Keeper 2 | The move from 2D to 3D, the orbiting sun, dynamic night shadows, the water shader, wind reactive foliage, volumetric fog, and the modular Town construction kit. See Art and Visual Design | |
26 August 2026 | Graveyard Keeper 2 is Launching on 22 September! | The release date, the opening of pre-orders, and the two pre-order bonuses. See Editions and Pre-Orders | |
2 September 2026 | Old World, New Story | The southern outskirts, the eight year gap, the returning Keeper, the talent system, Milestones replacing the Teleportstone, quest character schedules, and the skull that is not Gerry. See Story and Setting |
The most recent post is also the one that changed the most previously open questions at once. It is worth listing what it settled.
Question | Answer given |
|---|---|
Does the Technology Tree return | Yes, with a new talent system alongside it |
Is there still a fast travel stone | No. The Teleportstone is gone, replaced by Milestones between unlocked locations |
How much grinding | The studio says there will be less grinding this time |
Is the player the same Keeper | The same Keeper, then qualified as not exactly the same |
Is the skull companion Gerry | No |
Do original characters return | Several iconic characters do, most of the cast is new |
Do quest characters still visit weekly | No, they stay at their regular locations, though some mechanics remain day-gated |
Named new mechanics | Zombie battles and conveyor belt factories |
Development status | The studio has a QA team now and was testing, fixing and polishing as of the post |
The posts arrive roughly every four to six weeks, and the studio has closed several of them by asking readers what they would like to hear about next. The 2 September post is the most recent as of 13 September 2026, nine days before release. The studio said on 26 August that it had more to share in the weeks before launch.
Developer log material is treated as first-party and confirmed. Where a log describes something about the original game in order to contrast it with the sequel, that contrast is recorded as the studio's own framing. The original game's own mechanics, recipes, item stats and quest content are not carried into these pages: the sequel has already inverted one of the first game's headline goals and removed one of its signature items, so nothing from the earlier game is assumed to hold here without the studio saying so.
