Lucia Caminos
Lucia Caminos is one of the two playable protagonists in Grand Theft Auto VI, alongside Jason Duval. She is the first female lead protagonist in a 3D/HD-era Grand Theft Auto game. Her full name was confirmed by Rockstar Games when Trailer 2 dropped in May 2025, along with an official character biography on the Rockstar website.
Official Bio
Rockstar published Lucia's character profile on rockstargames.com/VI alongside Trailer 2. The key lines read:

"Lucia's father taught her to fight as soon as she could walk. Life has been coming at her swinging ever since."
"Fighting for her family landed her in the Leonida Penitentiary. Sheer luck got her out. Lucia's learned her lesson: only smart moves from here."
"More than anything, Lucia wants the good life her mom has dreamed of since their days in Liberty City, but instead of half-baked fantasies, Lucia is prepared to take matters into her own hands."
The official story synopsis describes both protagonists: "Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida, forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive."
Backstory
Lucia grew up with her mother, who originally came from Liberty City. Her father taught her to fight from childhood, and that combative upbringing shaped her personality. At some point before the events of the game, fighting to protect her family landed her in Leonida Penitentiary, a prison complex in Vice-Dale County. According to Rockstar's bio, "sheer luck" got her out. The exact mechanism of her release is left vague, but the phrasing suggests it was not a clean legal victory or a dramatic escape; more likely a technicality, an appeal that happened to go her way, or an early release she did not expect.
After her release, Lucia wears an electronic ankle monitor on her right leg. This is visible in official promotional artwork and in Trailer 1. By the 2:26 mark of Trailer 2, the ankle monitor is no longer visible, suggesting it gets removed at some point during the story's progression.
Appearance
Lucia is a Latina woman with dark brown hair and brown eyes. Her most distinctive accessory is a gold chain necklace with a boxing glove pendant, which she wears in virtually all appearances outside of prison scenes. In Trailer 1's opening, she is shown in a prison uniform behind chain-link fencing. Later scenes across both trailers show her in a range of outfits: dressed for nightlife in Vice City, wearing casual clothes during robberies, and in athletic gear during gym sparring and MMA cage fighting.
Personality
Lucia is tough and street-smart, shaped by a difficult upbringing and time in prison. After her release, she is determined not to end up back behind bars. Rockstar's bio positions her as someone who has learned from her mistakes and wants to be more calculated going forward. She is not naive about the criminal world she operates in, but she approaches it with more deliberation than before.
In Trailer 1, her core philosophy comes through in a line she delivers to Jason: "The only way we're gonna get through this is by sticking together. Being a team." This is followed by an exchange where she says "Trust?" and Jason replies "Trust." Another line from Trailer 2 captures her pragmatic worldview: "The only thing that matters is who you know and what you got."
Relationship with Jason
Lucia and Jason are both romantic and criminal partners. Trailer footage shows Jason picking Lucia up when she is released from prison, establishing how their partnership begins. Across both trailers, the two are shown in bed together, drinking beers, laughing, dancing, and partying. They also engage in car theft, armed robberies, and high-stakes criminal activity as a duo.

Jason's official Rockstar bio describes the relationship from his perspective: "Meeting Lucia could be the best or worst thing to ever happen to him. Jason knows how he'd like it to turn out but right now, it's hard to tell."
Press and community analysis have compared the pair to Bonnie and Clyde, and the comparison fits Rockstar's presentation closely. Their dynamic is central to the game's story and marketing.
Trailer Appearances
Trailer 1 (December 4, 2023)
Lucia's first appearance opens with her in prison. A correctional social worker named Stefanie asks her, "Lucia, do you know why you're here?" Lucia responds: "Bad luck, I guess." Later scenes show her in a car with Jason, masked up preparing for a crime, and delivering the "sticking together, being a team" line. The trailer's song, Tom Petty's "Love Is a Long Road," plays over these scenes. Her ankle monitor is clearly visible on her right leg after her release.
Trailer 2 (May 6, 2025)
Trailer 2 confirmed both protagonists' full names for the first time. It shows Lucia in a wider range of scenarios: Jason picking her up from prison, intimate moments between the two, gym sparring, nightlife in Vice City, and intense mission sequences. The official character bios quoted above were published alongside this trailer. By the later portions of the trailer, her ankle monitor appears to be gone.
Gameplay
As one of two playable characters, Lucia is available through the protagonist switching system. Trailer footage shows her firing a multi-shot grenade launcher (resembling a Milkor MGL), fighting in an MMA cage, sparring in a gym, and participating in armed robberies with Jason. The range of activities shown suggests her gameplay experience is fully fleshed out and equal to Jason's.

Historical Significance
Lucia is the first female protagonist with full voice acting and a named identity in the GTA series. Previous mainline entries featured exclusively male leads: Claude (GTA III), Tommy Vercetti (Vice City), Carl Johnson (San Andreas), Niko Bellic (GTA IV), and Michael, Franklin, and Trevor (GTA V). Earlier titles like GTA 1, GTA 2, and GTA Online included optional or silent female player characters, but none had the narrative prominence that Lucia holds in GTA VI.
Voice Actress
Rockstar Games has not officially confirmed who voices or performs motion capture for Lucia. The cast reveal is expected closer to the game's November 2026 launch or during the marketing campaign beginning in summer 2026.
