Genigods: Nezha has no announced release date. It was first announced in January 2026 for PlayStation 5 and PC with a 2028 launch window, and an Xbox Series version was added at gamescom in August 2026. The 2028 figure has not been restated by the developer since the reveal, and every current storefront listing is undated.
Platforms
Platform | Status |
|---|---|
PC | Announced. Wishlistable on Steam and the Epic Games Store. |
PlayStation 5 | Announced. A build was submitted to Sony early in the project, and the studio has said it works with PlayStation. Listed as PS5 Pro Enhanced. |
Xbox Series X|S | Announced at gamescom in August 2026. The January reveal covered PC and PlayStation 5 only. |
Steam Deck and handhelds | Not a current focus. The studio has said handhelds are not a priority for now, while leaving the door open to revisiting them. |
Nintendo Switch | Not announced. |
Mobile | Not announced. |
Release Window
No release date has been announced. What exists is a history rather than a figure, and it is worth reading as one.
When | What was stated |
|---|---|
January 2026 | The reveal press materials gave a 2028 launch, stating it three times. |
March 2026 | A storefront feature repeated 2028. Chinese coverage carried both 2028 and a 2027 to 2028 range, all of it tracing back to relayed foreign reporting rather than to the developer. |
August 2026 | The gamescom press materials dropped the year entirely and described only a future global launch. |
August 2026 | Asked directly for a rough release date, the producer declined, saying the project had not been in formal development long, that the team still needed time to do it properly, and that it would announce once progress was firmer. |
September 2026 | The CEO again gave no date when asked. |
September 2026 | Steam, the PlayStation Store and the Xbox Store all list the game as undated. One Chinese storefront listing carries a Q4 2027 window that appears in no other source in any language and is not adopted here. |
So 2028 was never unsourced. It was the developer’s own stated window at the reveal, and it is true that the game was once announced for that year. What changed is that it has been superseded rather than merely left unrefreshed. This is no longer a case of one stale storefront against a more specific press release: the newer press release itself dropped the year, PlayStation and Xbox carry no date either, and the developer has declined to give one twice on the record. No source has described a delay, so this wiki does not call it one.
Business Model
Genigods Lab has described the game as premium and pay upfront. No price has been announced for any platform, and no edition structure, season pass, or post-launch content plan has been described. The PlayStation listing does carry a compatibility notice reading "In-game purchases optional", which sits awkwardly against a pure pay-upfront framing. Nothing has been said about what such purchases would be.
Languages
Three languages are listed, all with full audio support: English, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. No other language has been announced for interface or subtitles. Japanese is the best documented of those absences: asked in September 2026 whether a Japanese localisation could be expected, the CEO said nothing had been formally announced for the Japanese market while calling it an important one, and the Japanese Steam listing states plainly that Japanese is not supported.

That offline-only line sits against the PC requirements, which list a broadband Internet connection on both tiers. Neither surface explains the other, and no always-online policy has been stated in either direction. The system requirements page covers the PC side in detail.
Public Demo
A hands-on demo was playable at platform booths during gamescom from August 26 to August 30, 2026. That build was show-floor only, and no public demo has been announced.
