Created page covering the NVIDIA partnership, upscaling options, Advanced Shader Delivery, display support and rendering technologies
Gears of War: E-Day is built on Unreal Engine 5 and DirectX 12, and is being optimised across a broad range of PC hardware. NVIDIA is the exclusive PC partner, announced on July 14, 2026, working with the studio on GeForce RTX integration, performance optimisation and launch support. The hardware floor is on System Requirements.
Technology | Detail |
|---|---|
NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 | Integrated with Dynamic Multi Frame Generation and Super Resolution |
NVIDIA Reflex | Integrated for reduced latency and input responsiveness |
AMD FSR | Supported. The store listing names the Redstone version. |
Unreal Engine TSR | Supported |
Intel XeSS | Supported |
Frame generation | Optional frame generation and multi frame generation on supported hardware |
Advanced Shader Delivery ships precompiled shaders alongside the game, which cuts load times and removes first-run shader stutter on compatible systems. It is available across supported PC storefronts, initially the Microsoft Store and the Xbox PC app, with broader hardware and storefront support planned to expand over time.
Feature | Detail |
|---|---|
Hardware ray tracing | Lighting, reflections and shadows. A ray tracing capable GPU is required even at minimum spec. |
MegaLights | The game is among the first shipping titles using this Unreal Engine 5 lighting system. See Development History |
Nanite | Named as part of what enables the close-up character work |
Groom | Hair groom appears in gameplay and cinematics for the first time in the series |
Variable Rate Shading | Supported |
HDR10 | Supported, alongside 4K output |
Display modes: borderless, exclusive fullscreen and windowed.
Frame rates: uncapped on capable hardware.
Ultrawide: 21:9 and 32:9 support for both gameplay and menus.
Remapping: full keyboard, mouse and controller remapping, detailed on Settings and Controls.
Benchmark: a benchmark mode is built into the game.
Graphics mode is chosen separately for each mode rather than globally, so a player can run the campaign for quality and Versus for framerate. The same menu exposes an Eco Mode aimed at handheld battery life and an Idle Timeout, plus an indicator for whether 120 Hz output is detected. Console targets 4K and up to 60 frames per second with a compatible display.
The game uses anti-cheat software on PC. An Xbox or Microsoft account is not required to play on Steam, but linking one is required to send cross-platform squad invites, and optional linking also enables roaming saves. Player counts are on Co-Op and Split-Screen.
During the Open Beta the stated minimum drivers were AMD 26.7.1, Intel 101.8864 and NVIDIA 610.74 or newer, with the game refusing to launch on older NVIDIA drivers. Frame generation was disabled and the framerate was capped at 150 frames per second, both stated as temporary and absent from the final game. Those figures describe the beta client, not launch.
