Shantotto

Corrected the claim that she is the only Vision with dark magic now that a second dark-magic Vision is named, and added the three-stage magicite awakening system
Shantotto is a legacy Vision in Final Fantasy Resonance and the series representative for FINAL FANTASY XI. Her official bio for this game describes a mage who leads the Federation of Windurst's Senate and stands among the esteemed Three Magi. As a Commando, she unleashes repeated lightning-, water-, and dark-element magic to deal heavy damage.

Commando is an official role word she shares with Terra, and in Shantotto's hands it means volume: strings of repeated casts across lightning, water, and dark that pile up heavy damage.
Dark magic is thin on the ground across this roster: among the named Visions, only Victoria also deals in it, and she leans on status ailments such as Poison and Silence rather than on raw output. Repeated casting also suits the stagger game, because every hit shaves an enemy's Stagger Gauge and weakness hits shave it faster; the loop from staggered enemies to bonus-phase actions is covered at Stagger System.
Abilities learned from her stay equippable while other Visions are active, within the cost limit described at Abilities and Mastery. Affinity with her Vision grows through battles, unlocking further abilities and skills for the wearer. Her kit, like every Vision's, was designed from zero for this game.
The producer's roster covers one hero per numbered title from FINAL FANTASY I through XVI, and for FINAL FANTASY XI that hero is Shantotto. Like every Vision, she serves as a battle helper rather than a travelling companion and does not hold conversations with the main cast.
Her Vision is unlocked at a vision crystal sanctum, one of the shrines scattered across the world where you revisit stories from the original games. Every Vision is earnable in-game, with no DLC.
The first time you call her into battle, the game plays a short movie explaining her original game.
Magicite recovered on the journey awakens her Vision through three stages, each stage costing a higher grade than the last and each raising the abilities and the level of the skills and magic it teaches; the process is covered at Vision Awakening.
Each Vision powers a unique Resonance attack at the end of the bonus phase after a sweeping stagger, limited to one use per sweeping stagger, each with its own cinematic; legacy heroes' sequences render in full 3D. Shantotto's specific Resonance has not been individually detailed. For the full roster, see List of Visions.
