Clive is one of the legacy Visions in Final Fantasy Resonance. His inclusion was confirmed well before his kit was: Japanese storefront copy listed him on the roster alongside Cloud and Terra, but no description of what he does appeared until official press material dated August 24, 2026. The realm named in that material, Rosaria, pointed at FINAL FANTASY XVI, and the official Japanese character page has since printed the pairing outright: its sixteen-slot sprite gallery captions his sprite FINAL FANTASY XVI. A dedicated English-language Vision video followed on September 10, 2026, inviting players to battle alongside Clive, resonate with his Vision within the Sanctum of Light, and unleash his abilities in combat.

Square Enix introduces him as the firstborn son of the Archduke of Rosaria. That single line is the whole of the background published for him here, and it names his own realm rather than anything in this game's world.
Clive staggers enemies and deals massive damage with Fire and Wind physical attacks, which makes him a straightforward offensive pick rather than a support or utility Vision. Square Enix's Japanese text, from its August 24, 2026 announcement to a Vision video of October 9, 2026, gives him the role word Breaker. Doing both jobs at once matters, because staggering every enemy in one turn is the condition for a Resonance Attack: a Vision that breaks the line and hits hard shortens the route to it. The loop is described at Stagger System.
