Full development history from studio origins through launch announcement
Neverness to Everness was developed by Hotta Studio, a subsidiary of Perfect World Games based in China. The game represents Hotta Studio's second major release following Tower of Fantasy (2022), building on lessons learned from that title's global rollout and live-service operations. Neverness to Everness uses Unreal Engine 5 version 5.7 and targets PC, PlayStation 5, iOS, and Android simultaneously.
Hotta Studio was established as a game development subsidiary under Perfect World Games, one of China's largest gaming publishers. The studio gained recognition with Tower of Fantasy, an anime-styled open-world RPG that launched in China in December 2021 and globally in August 2022. Tower of Fantasy demonstrated Hotta Studio's ambition in the open-world action RPG space, though it faced criticism for technical issues and content pacing at launch.
With Neverness to Everness, Hotta Studio shifted away from the anime aesthetic toward a more realistic urban supernatural setting. The development team grew significantly in size compared to Tower of Fantasy, and the studio adopted newer Unreal Engine technology to achieve a higher visual fidelity. Publishing is handled jointly by Perfect World Games for the Chinese market and Level Infinite (Tencent's global publishing brand) for international distribution.
Neverness to Everness was first revealed with a cinematic announcement trailer that introduced the modern-day city of Hethereau and the concept of Anomalies disrupting urban life. The trailer established the game's tone as a blend of supernatural mystery and fast-paced action, distinguishing it from Tower of Fantasy's sci-fi anime direction.
Early promotional materials emphasized the seamless open world, the Esper system, and the investigative elements tied to the Eibon Antique Shop. The reveal generated significant interest in the gaming community, particularly among fans of open-world gacha games looking for a more grounded aesthetic.
Neverness to Everness had a major presence at Gamescom 2025 in Cologne, Germany. The event featured a playable demo and several significant announcements. The PlayStation 5 version was officially confirmed during the Gamescom showcase, expanding the game's reach beyond PC and mobile platforms.
Hotta Studio debuted the Hethereau Exclusive Feature trailer at the event, showcasing full ray tracing and path tracing powered by the GeForce RTX 50 Series. The trailer demonstrated real-time global illumination, physically based material rendering with subsurface scattering, and high-fidelity character models in the game's urban environments. The visual showcase solidified Neverness to Everness as one of the more technically ambitious titles in the free-to-play space.
At TGS 2025, Hotta Studio released a new trailer focused on the game's racing mechanics. The trailer showcased a variety of drivable vehicles including muscle cars, supercars, and motorcycles, along with racing events and the broader exploration and traversal systems. The TGS presentation also featured extended gameplay footage of the combat system and a deeper look at character abilities.
On February 26, 2026, Hotta Studio officially announced that Neverness to Everness would launch globally on April 29, 2026. The announcement confirmed simultaneous availability across all five platforms (Windows, Mac, PS5, iOS, Android) with full cross-platform play and cross-progression. By the time of the announcement, pre-registrations had exceeded 25 million worldwide.
