EVILBANE has had two confirmed hands-on events so far. The first was a pre-alpha test on PC run through Xbox Insider, and the second was the first public playable demo at G-Star 2025. Both gave the team a chance to gather feedback ahead of the game's release. For more on the team's progress see development, and both events centered on the game's combat.
Confirmed Tests and Demos
Event | Platform | Dates | Details |
|---|---|---|---|
Pre-alpha test (Xbox Insider) | PC | Aug 29 to about Nov 24, 2025 | Goal was to tune the fun and feel of combat. Started in the US and Canada, added Brazil, the UK, Germany, and France, then opened to every region except South Korea. |
G-Star 2025 public demo | PC and ROG Xbox Ally X handheld | Nov 13 to 16, 2025 | First public playable demo, held in Busan. Players picked from four characters and could take on an exclusive mission. |
How the Pre-Alpha Grew
The console insider round did not begin as a three-month test. It was announced as a three-day window, then kept open with no end date, and widened its region list twice before it finally closed.
Date | Change |
|---|---|
August 8, 2025 | Schedule announced: August 29 to September 1, insiders in the United States and Canada only, Windows PC only |
August 31, 2025 | Extended with no end date given |

October 2, 2025 | Opened to insiders in every region except South Korea |
November 24, 2025 | Closed |
What Each Test Covered
The Xbox Insider pre-alpha was focused work on the feel of fighting, aimed at refining how combat plays before a wider audience saw it. The G-Star 2025 build was the first time the public could go hands-on, offering four selectable characters and a mission made for the show, played on the show floor either at a PC station set up for an Xbox controller or on a ROG Xbox Ally X handheld.
One figure gives a sense of how much was in the test build: by November 2025 the pre-alpha had seven operations implemented. That is a snapshot of an early build rather than the launch roster.
Upcoming Alpha Test
Beyond the 2025 pre-alpha and the G-Star demo, the team has said an alpha test is in preparation. No schedule, platform list, or sign-up details have been announced yet, so the date is still open. This follows the studio's stated plan to keep gathering player feedback through further tests before release, building on the earlier rounds rather than replacing them.
Steam Playtest
Sign-ups for a Steam playtest opened on November 12, 2025, alongside the wishlist pages, and it was the first time the team had recruited testers in Korea. The schedule was left for a later announcement. The team has also said that anyone who takes part in a test and completes its survey will have their nickname listed in the game's ending credits. As of early March 2026 the playtest still had not formally started. Invitation emails did go out early that month while the test environment was being set up, but the team said those were sent by mistake and that the real playtest would be announced properly once it was ready. The store page carries a request-access button for anyone who wants to be notified.
