Named Steam Deck and Nintendo Switch as the handheld targets behind the controller-first interface, recorded the reasoning given for cross-platform play, and added the two languages that were still incomplete during the second beta
11Drakantos is developed and self-published by Wingeon Game Studios, a Brazilian indie studio based in Curitiba. It is a free-to-play pixel-art MMORPG for PC. No release date has been announced: the Steam page lists the game as coming soon. An earlier mid-2025 target was missed and superseded by ongoing closed testing, so no window is currently confirmed. See System Requirements for the minimum specs and Closed Beta History for the testing timeline.2233Release Status4455As of mid-2026 the game remains in an active pre-launch state and is listed on Steam as coming soon, with no announced launch date. It has run two closed beta tests and reached 500,000 wishlists in May 2026. The development team has continued to iterate on core systems between tests rather than commit to a public release window.6677The studio has considered an Early Access step rather than going straight to a full launch. In an August 2025 interview the game director said the team wanted to reach at least Early Access that year, possibly with parts of the game walled off, and then open everything up at full release. That did not happen: the store listing still reads as coming soon and no Early Access build has been offered. He gave a candid reason for the slipping estimates, which is that features the community asked for kept being added along the way, among them the open world, trophies, hero customization, and mouse control.8899Platforms10101111PlatformStatusPC (Windows 7 or newer)ConfirmedPC (Linux, 64-bit)ConfirmedMacNot supported1212Cross-Platform Play13131414Cross-platform multiplayer between the Windows and Linux versions is supported, so players on both platforms share the same servers and game modes. Partial controller support is also available alongside keyboard and mouse.15151616The developers have also described cross-save as part of the same plan, so a single account would carry between whichever versions exist rather than starting over on each one. Nothing beyond the two PC builds has shipped, so treat cross-save as a stated intention rather than a live feature.17171818Consoles and Mobile19192020PC is the only confirmed platform for launch. In an August 2025 developer interview the game director said the studio wants to bring the game to consoles and to mobile as well, but that each of those would be a separate later release rather than a simultaneous launch, because a mobile version in particular needs a large amount of new interface work. He also mentioned that a mobile build had already been shown running at Brasil Game Show. Alongside cross-platform play, he described the appeal of picking up lighter activities such as gathering resources or catching pets on a phone and switching to PC for PvP.21212222No console or mobile version has been announced with a name, a platform holder, or a date. Third-party pages advertising a downloadable mobile build are not connected to the studio.232324+Two handheld targets were named specifically in that interview: Steam Deck and Nintendo Switch, on the grounds that a top-down pixel-art game suits handheld play. The same ambition explains a decision players can already see, which is that the game ships one controller-friendly interface rather than a separate PC layout, because the interface was designed controller-first from the start.25+26+Cross-platform play was described as the straightforward part of that plan rather than the hard part, because every version would read the same account from the same database. The harder question the developers raised themselves is transferring between server regions, which they described as unsettled and complicated by the fact that regional economies differ.27+2428Pricing and Business Model25292630Drakantos is free to play. No purchase is required to download or play the base game. The roster of Heroes is unlocked account-wide rather than rolled through a gacha system, so heroes are obtained by playing rather than by chance-based purchases. The developers have since outlined the wider model they are aiming for: an optional subscription on top of the free base game, a deliberately limited cosmetic shop, and paid unlocks for some heroes. None of it has been priced or dated. As of the March 2026 development update the game was fully translated into English, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish (Latin America), Spanish (Spain), Simplified Chinese, Polish, and Japanese, with German and Turkish still in progress. Turkish does not appear on the store language list yet, so treat it as a translation in development rather than a confirmed shipping language. The second closed beta ran with seven languages enabled, and the studio has credited community volunteers for a large part of the translation effort.424647+The second closed beta gives a snapshot of where that work stood in May 2026. Seven languages were enabled for the test, and the studio warned testers up front that Japanese and Spanish (Spain) were not yet fully translated and that untranslated strings would still appear, while asking for incorrect wording to be reported.48+4349Pre-Launch Milestones44504551The game has gathered a sizable wishlist following ahead of launch and has been tested twice in closed conditions. The first closed beta concentrated on the cooperative side of the game, while the second introduced the PvP Modes for the first time. The wishlist count passed 500,000 in May 2026, up from 100,000 reached in November 2023. A full breakdown of both test weekends, including dates, content, regions, and rewards, is on the Closed Beta History page.
