Three Diablo V classes have been named: the returning Demon Hunter and Monk, and the all-new Plague Knight. Blizzard says these are only the first it will reveal, and it has given no total count.
The Plague Knight is the first all-new class announced for Diablo V, a heavily armoured figure described as the embodiment of walking death who spreads disease and then consumes it for power.
Blizzard says the Diablo V overworld, not only its dungeons, is procedurally generated, with terrain, points of interest, monsters and rewards able to change between visits and the fog of war rolling back each time the caravan moves.
The caravan replaces towns and strongholds in Diablo V. It is a travelling band of survivors who act as vendors and companions, it can only move to places the player has already made safe, and the team says every sidequest comes from its members.
The Demon Hunter is a returning Diablo V class, described by Blizzard in a single sentence: it stalks the forces of Hell with twin crossbows, striking from the shadows and leaping across the battlefield.
The Monk is a returning Diablo V class, described by Blizzard in a single sentence: it brings martial perfection back to Sanctuary, battering demons with fists and calling down holy power at range.
Blizzard says Diablo V itemization is inspired by an earlier series entry, with returning gear sets and belts, larger items taking more inventory slots, a crafting system built on Runes and Runewords, and an experiment with stat requirements on gear.
