Overview
The Blood of Dawnwalker is the first chapter of a planned series Rebel Wolves calls the Dawnwalker Saga. The studio has said it planned several games from the start rather than adding a series framing after the fact, and that knowing where the arc goes made it easier to seed hooks in the first game.
This Game Is Self-Contained
The studio has been direct that the first entry resolves. The Blood of Dawnwalker is set entirely in the 14th century, and Coen's feud with Brencis reaches a definitive conclusion shaped by the player's choices. Game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz has stated that each installment will be a standalone game with its own story, without narrative cliffhangers, unresolved plot threads or time travel. Narrative director Jakub Szamalek has added that attentive players will still find breadcrumbs relating to the overarching plot.
The Present-Day Teaser
At Summer Game Fest on June 5, 2026, the studio closed its showing with a separate CGI teaser set in the present day. It shows a delivery person handing a box of blood sachets to an ailing vampire, with Coen alive in a modern setting roughly six centuries after the events of this game. Tomaszkiewicz has since clarified that the scene is a post-credits sequence in The Blood of Dawnwalker itself rather than a trailer for an announced sequel.
Where the Series Goes
Rebel Wolves has described later entries as spanning different eras, locations and cultures, with new antagonists, new stories and different local legends and creatures of the night, all anchored to Coen as the recurring protagonist.
Konrad Tomaszkiewicz said in July 2026 that the arc for the whole saga was mapped from the beginning, that the time period for the next entry has already been chosen, and that the story arcs for the games after it have been decided too. He also placed the endpoint: the saga concludes in the present day, which is what the modern-set teaser is pointing at. What it will not do is jump straight there, and it will not involve time travel; each entry is a standalone story in its own era.
Asked about the obvious comparison to a long-running historical series that changes protagonist each entry, Tomaszkiewicz said he would rather liken it to Interview with the Vampire, on the grounds that the saga follows one character growing and changing across centuries rather than a chain of separate heroes. Beyond that framing nothing has been announced: no second game has been named, dated or given a platform list.
Save Carry-Over
Bandai Namco has confirmed that there will be an option to carry a save from the first game forward, so decisions made in The Blood of Dawnwalker can be taken into account by later entries. The studio has since described the intent in stronger terms, comparing it to the save-transfer model of a well-known science-fiction trilogy in which consequences follow the player between games. The multiple epilogues the first game ends on are the material that carries.
No detail has been given about which specific choices are tracked or how they are surfaced in a later entry.
What This Is Not
Save carry-over into future games is not the same thing as a new game plus mode inside this one. The studio has addressed that directly: new game plus is on the table but is not currently active, and the developers have said the time system and everything tied to it make the mode less straightforward to implement here than it would be elsewhere. It is not in the game at launch. Nothing about the saga framing changed what shipped on September 3, 2026: a single-player campaign with its own ending. See 30-Day Cycle for how those endings are reached.
