Creature Design Philosophy
The creatures of Vale Sangora draw from Eastern European folklore, specifically Polish, Romanian, Ukrainian, and Balkan traditions. Rather than importing standard fantasy bestiary entries, Rebel Wolves has grounded its monsters in the myths of the Carpathian Mountains. Many of the creatures described in Zdislav's folklore stories correspond to confirmed enemy types.
Vampires
The dominant supernatural presence in the game. See Vrakhiri for the ancient vampire lords and Vampire Mythology for the lore behind how vampires work in this world. Standard vampires possess powers like Shadowstep and are created through the fang-to-heart turning ritual.

Murohni
Failed vampire transformations. When a vampire fang breaks off during feeding and lodges somewhere in the victim's body other than the heart, the vital energy inside the tooth explodes all at once, violently deforming the host into a blood-thirsty beast. Murohni are mindless, lack self-preservation, and eventually wander into sunlight and burn to ash. They possess an unstable version of Shadowstep. The Gamescom 2025 demo featured a murohni called "The Almshouse Monstrosity" as an encounter in Svartrau's cathedral catacombs.
The singular form is Murohn. It appears that way in the studio's own patch notes, where a named Murohn is treated as an individual creature rather than a category, so "murohni" is the plural and collective. Murohn keep dens, and clearing one at night provides Murohn Blood, a healing consumable. At least one Murohn is strong enough to be fought as a boss in its own right.
Uriashi
Mountain folk with curled horns and large builds. The uriashi kept to themselves for centuries, living in remote rock huts and caves in the high mountains. Since the vampire takeover, their situation has split. Some now wear vampire colors and enforce Brencis's regime, while others remain independent and are simply curious about the lowlanders. They correspond to the "horned mountain beasts" from Zdislav's folklore.
Kobolds
Underground creatures that inhabit the silver mines throughout the mountains. Coen grew up working in these mines, so kobold encounters take him back to familiar territory, though the mines are now far more dangerous than when he was just a miner. Kobolds were confirmed during the January 2026 developer Q&A.

Likho
Also called Likhosai. A creature type drawn from Slavic folklore, where the likho is a one-eyed personification of evil fate and misfortune. They were confirmed as an enemy type before release. In the shipped game witchcraft vendors sell a crafting ingredient called Glob of Likho's Light, but no account reviewed for this page through October 13, 2026 describes how a likho appears or fights.
Psoglavi
Dog-headed creatures from Serbian and South Slavic mythology. In folklore, psoglav (literally "dog-head") were monstrous beings with iron teeth, a single eye, and horse legs. They were listed among the confirmed creature types before release. One guide to the shipped game reports wolf-like psoglavs guarding the approaches to a soldier outpost with a blood cellar in St. Tyna's Grove, and witchcraft vendors sell Psoglav Claws and Psoglav Heart as crafting ingredients.

Sanzhana
Sanzhana are small, blue-skinned winged creatures with a moth-like appearance. They are traders who buy teeth for denarii. Completing their five encounters returns a day through the Tsarina; individual teeth sales do not add rescue time. See Sanzhana for the locations and rewards.
The plural is Sanzhani. They are a finite set rather than scattered flavour: five separate encounters are documented across the valley, and finding all of them opens conversation with Lunka and returns time to the clock.
Undead
Found in ancient ruins throughout Vale Sangora. The undead appear to be distinct from vampires and murohni. They are associated with the ruins that predate the vampire takeover rather than with the vampire power structure.

The Forgotten Guardian
The Forgotten Guardian is a named boss shown in July 2026 gameplay of the prologue quest Deep Down. It guards an ancient underground tomb built for a warrior who once fought the vrakhiri, and it wields swords with clear skill. Coen faces it at the climax of the tomb sequence, after following the murals that tell the buried warrior’s story.
Named Bosses
Walkthroughs of the finished game name several set-piece opponents that sit above the ordinary enemy roster. There is no published boss list, so the following is gathered from scattered coverage rather than from a roster, and the set is certainly incomplete. Some entries belong to late sections of the story.
Boss | Where it is met |
|---|---|
Ravenous Bear | An optional early fight in the hills near Laslea. Beating it opens the Into the Den quest. |
The Forgotten Guardian | The ancient tomb reached during the prologue quest Deep Down. |
Svetlana, The Dark Prodigy | A tower in the region known as The Silts, fought on the way up before the encounter at the top. |
The Echoing Anger | A collective of spirits inside a shrine in the northwest, tied to the crafting chain for a legendary sword. |
Unblinking Blasphemy | The assault on Greifberg Castle. |
Brencis, Grotesque Ascendant | The second stage of the prologue confrontation with Brencis. |
Murohn bosses also appear as named encounters attached to specific quests, though they are identified by the quest rather than by a name of their own.
The fuller roster, including the vrakhir lords and the quest bosses that guard legendary gear, is collected on Bosses.
From Folklore
Zdislav's stories mentioned additional creatures that may appear in the game: tiny forest folk with cat's eyes, forked tongues, and teeth like needles; lizards the size of horses burrowing in peat bogs; pale wraiths among moonlit peaks; and ancient ruins filled with bubbling blood. Not all of these have been confirmed as enemy types. The horse-sized bog lizards match the Tatzelwurms met in a cave in the Briar Sloughs bog in the shipped game; the others are not described in any account of the shipped game reviewed through October 13, 2026. The overlap between Zdislav's tales and the confirmed bestiary is close enough that the stories read as a guide to what the valley holds.
Confirmed Enemy Types
Rebel Wolves has now confirmed the following enemy categories, all rooted in Eastern European folklore. The studio has not published stats or movesets for any of them, but the categories themselves are on the record.
Type | Origin | Behavior |
|---|---|---|
Failed vampire transformations | Beast-form humans driven mad by botched fang turning, possess unstable Shadowstep, eventually burn in sunlight | |
Polish and Carpathian folklore | Horned mountain folk, some serve Brencis and some remain neutral | |
Kobolds | Underground spirits | Inhabit silver mines, encountered in old shafts Coen worked as a child |
Likho | Slavic folklore | One-eyed personification of misfortune, confirmed enemy type |
Psoglavi | Serbian and South Slavic folklore | Dog-headed creatures with iron teeth and a single eye, confirmed enemy type |
Vampires | Vrakhiri lineage | Standard vampires possess Shadowstep and are created through the fang-to-heart turning ritual; ancient vampires carry distinctive powers |
Undead | Pre-vampire ruins | Distinct from vampires and murohni, tied to ancient civilizations rather than the current power structure |
Pixie and tooth-fairy folklore | Winged, blue-skinned traders who buy teeth for denarii. Their encounter chain returns a day through the Tsarina. | |
Tatzelwurms | Alpine and Carpathian folklore | Named by the studio in its own creature bulletin alongside gargoyles and pixies. Confirmed in the shipped game: a cave on the east side of the Briar Sloughs bog is filled with them, and the moult of a large lizard needed for the Arbiter armour set is picked up there once they are cleared. |
Gargoyles | Medieval church sculpture and folklore | Named by the studio in the same bulletin. Flying gargoyles use aerial dives and scythe-arm melee attacks; a Perfect Block or suitable ability can bring them to the ground. The Beast of St. Teotim's is a grounded variant with a missing wing. |
Blood Guards | Brencis's castle garrison | Fought during the final assault on the castle; a player who spares Xanthe reportedly does not have to fight them there |
