Initial version: comprehensive Swift Wolf mount article
The Swift Wolf is a temporary mount in Crimson Desert and the smallest, fastest wolf variant that players can ride. True to its name, the Swift Wolf prioritizes speed over raw strength. It is significantly weaker than the Large Wolf, Large White Wolf, and Gristle Wolf in terms of health and attack power, but its nimble movement makes it useful for quick getaways and short-distance travel.
The Swift Wolf comes in multiple visual variations with different coat patterns. These are purely cosmetic and do not affect the mount's performance. Like all predator mounts, it is a Fleeting Companion that cannot be stabled or summoned.
The Swift Wolf has the lowest stats of all wolf-type mounts, reflecting its lightweight build:
Stat | Value |
|---|---|
Health | 150 |
Stamina | 100 |
Attack | 20 |
Defense | 10 |
Speed | 1 |
Acceleration | 1 |
Handling | 1 |
Jump Power | 1 |
Type | Ground |
At only 150 Health and 20 Attack, the Swift Wolf is not built for combat. Its 10 Defense is the lowest of any predator mount in the game. A few solid hits from enemies will kill it. The Swift Wolf's value lies entirely in its speed and agility as a quick mode of transportation, not as a combat platform. Think of it as a living sprint button rather than a weapon.
The Swift Wolf is one of the easiest predator mounts to subdue, thanks to its low health:
Locate a Swift Wolf in the wilderness. They are common across most outdoor regions of Pywel, typically running in small packs or alone.
Attack the wolf with light strikes. Its 150 HP means only a few hits are needed to stun it.
Watch carefully for the mount prompt. Because the Swift Wolf dies so easily, it is critical to stop attacking once it collapses rather than landing one more hit that kills it.
Press the mount prompt (Square on PlayStation, X on Xbox) quickly to climb on.
Tip: Use your weakest weapon or bare-handed attacks when subduing a Swift Wolf. Powerful weapons can easily one-shot or two-shot these lightweight wolves, robbing you of the chance to mount them.
The Swift Wolf has multiple coat variations that change its visual appearance. Some may have darker or lighter fur patterns, but all variations share the same base stats. Riding different visual variants does not create separate entries in the Knowledge Journal.
The Swift Wolf is a temporary mount (Fleeting Companion). This means:
It cannot be registered at any stable or recalled through the mount menu.
It cannot be equipped with any mount gear.
It does not gain experience or level up.
Once you dismount, the wolf becomes hostile immediately.
If it dies during the ride (which happens easily), you are thrown off.
The Swift Wolf is best used purely for travel, not combat. With only 150 HP and 10 Defense, even a few enemy hits will kill it.
Use the lightest attacks possible when subduing a Swift Wolf. Heavy weapons and powerful skills will kill it outright before you get the mount prompt.
If you spot a Swift Wolf while exploring on foot and need to cover ground quickly, it is worth subduing one for a short ride to your destination.
Do not bring a Swift Wolf into any combat encounter. It will die almost immediately against groups of enemies.
Riding a Swift Wolf registers its entry in the Fleeting Companions section of the Knowledge Journal.
