Overview

Return is the 36th main quest in Crimson Desert and opens the "The Face Behind the Mask" sub-chapter of Chapter 3. With Yann back in the fold after the events at St. Halssius's House of Healing, Kliff returns to the Greymane Camp to check in with Marius and plan the next move.

Walkthrough

Speak with Marius

From the Nas River Fishing Dock (where Familiar Curses ended), travel back to the Greymane Camp at Howling Hill. A fast way to get there is to open the sky map (R3), fast-travel to the sky island above the camp, and skydive down.

Find Marius at a table in front of the main tent. When you approach, a cutscene begins. Marius is discussing concerns with two other Greymanes about Naira and Andrew, who still have not returned safely.

During the conversation, Duane arrives at camp dragging a bound Black Bear warrior. Kliff and the others greet him, and the reunion scene plays out. The quest completes once the cutscene ends.

Preparation Warning

Important: The next sequence of quests (Traces in the Manor through Dance with the Devil) includes one of the toughest boss fights in Chapter 3. Before heading out, stock up on healing items. PowerPyx recommends at least 50 Grilled Meat (80 HP each), available from vendors in Hernand. Also consider purchasing and upgrading plate armor from the Hernand blacksmith. The upcoming boss can one-shot Kliff if your gear is underleveled.

Notes

• This is a brief, cutscene-only quest with no combat.

• Duane's arrival with the Black Bear prisoner hints at ongoing conflict with the Black Bear faction.

• After this quest, the story shifts from the Homestead sub-chapter (camp building) to The Face Behind the Mask (investigating a supernatural threat).

Sub-Chapter Transition

Return marks the start of the "The Face Behind the Mask" sub-chapter, which shifts the tone of Chapter 3 from base-building at Howling Hill to a darker supernatural investigation. The previous Homestead quests (A Fresh Start, Reward for Their Sweat) focused on crafting, cooking, and camp construction. From this point forward, the Greymanes confront the Devil of the Reed Field, culminating in the boss battle at the Mountain of Frozen Souls.

Dialogue and Story Context

When Kliff reaches the camp, a cutscene shows Marius seated at a table in front of the main tent, deep in conversation with two other Greymane members. The discussion reveals mounting concern: Naira and Andrew left for Glenbright Manor to meet with Count Alistair Grace, but have not returned. Duane then arrives, dragging a bound Black Bear warrior behind him. The reunion between Kliff, Marius, and Duane is brief but marks the first time three Greymane leaders have been together since the opening ambush.

The captive Black Bear warrior hints at continued friction between the Greymanes and the Black Bear faction. Though the game does not elaborate on the prisoner's fate during this quest, the Black Bears remain a background threat even as the supernatural Reed Devil plotline takes center stage.

Fast Travel Shortcut

If you unlocked the sky island fast travel point above Greymane Camp earlier in Chapter 3, open the sky map by pressing R3 on the map screen, travel to that sky island, and skydive directly into camp. This skips the overland ride from the Nas River Fishing Dock entirely.
