Red Squirrel is a small wildlife creature found in the world of Crimson Desert. Red squirrels are small, tree-dwelling rodents known for their lively reddish-brown fur and bushy tail. They are mostly active during the day and are known for their agility and speed as they navigate treetops. Unknown to many, they can also swim using their tails as a float to help steer through water.
Encountering and observing this creature grants Knowledge entries in the Small Mammals category. Knowledge entries contribute to the overall completion percentage and may unlock additional rewards.

Patch 1.09.00 added roughly thirty small animal species that can now be registered as Pets, and the Red Squirrel is one of them. Once registered, a pet follows you and loots fallen enemies. To tame one, raise its Trust from 0 to 100, then hold the on-screen prompt to choose Take In. Trust is raised by feeding the animal (drop its food on the ground so it walks over to eat) and by petting it. See the Pet Taming Guide for the full process.
Red Squirrels gather in the animal-dense forest to the north of Hernand, around Three Saints' Falls. Many of the new small pets also share a single farm field in the Delesyia area, on the strip of farmland north of Tinkerton. Look for a leaning tower standing in the middle of the field with three flax patches (the grass with white flowers) beside it. This is the spot players call the golden apple hedgehog farm. Walking through the flax makes the animals dash out in one direction, so circle back through the patch to make them respawn.
The fastest food for a Red Squirrel is Barley. Two feeds carry it from 0 straight to 100 Trust in a few seconds, after which the Take In prompt appears.
