Reckoning Spear

Initial version
Reckoning (often referred to as the Reckoning Spear) is a unique two-handed spear in Crimson Desert. It is a massive polearm once wielded by the Titan, the God of Lightning, and its spearhead is shaped like a bolt striking down. Although its lightning power faded when it left its original owner's hands, the edge remains as sharp as ever and the weapon still channels a remnant of that ancient storm through its Lightning God's Affliction passive.
The Reckoning is widely regarded as one of the strongest two-handed weapons in the game. It is acquired only by finishing the entire Stjar Clan faction questline in Pailune and defeating the Titan on the Scorched Mountain. Alongside the spear, the fight also rewards the Lightning Bolt Plate Armor chest piece and a single Abyss Artifact.
The Reckoning is a Level 3 two-handed spear with excellent damage and attack speed. Stats listed below reflect the weapon at base refinement; values can be increased further through the Refinement System at any Blacksmith.
Attribute | Value |
|---|---|
Weapon Type | Two-Handed Spear |
Level | 3 |
Abyss Gear Slots | 5 |
Upgradeable | Yes, via Refinement at a Blacksmith |
Passive | Lightning God's Affliction |
The Reckoning uses the standard two-handed spear moveset. Where it separates itself from the Bismuth Spear, the Flame Spear, and the Lightning Spear is its unique parry passive:
Lightning God's Affliction (passive): successfully parrying an enemy attack with L1 while Reckoning is equipped calls down a bolt of lightning on that enemy, adding significant burst damage to every punished hit. The proc scales well against groups and makes the weapon shine in drawn-out boss encounters.
The spear has no elemental buff button of its own. Unlike the Flame Spear and Lightning Spear, Reckoning does not have a dedicated imbue attack, so its lightning damage is strictly tied to parrying.
Five Abyss Gear slots allow for heavy customization. Common picks include raw damage boosts, critical rate, and utility gears that pair well with the parry trigger.
Reckoning is obtained as a guaranteed drop from defeating the Titan (also known in his final form as the Gigantified Titan). The fight sits at the end of a long Pailune faction chain and is not part of the main story, so most players reach it well after finishing chapter 7's Homecoming questline when Pailune becomes fully available.
The table below lists the faction questlines that must be completed, in order, to unlock the Titan encounter. All three of the initial Pailune factions must be cleared before Stjar Clan quests will appear, and the Stjar Clan questline itself runs several steps deep before the Titan becomes available.
Step | Questline / Quest | Notes |
|---|---|---|
1 | Clear the Pailune Militia faction quests after reclaiming the region. | |
2 | Complete the Skoghorn Tribe faction questline in the forests of Pailune. | |
3 | Finish the Longleaf Tribe faction quests in the mountainous north of Pailune. | |
4 | Stjar Clan - Lightning Strikes | First Stjar Clan quest, unlocked once the three tribes above are done. |
5 | Master of Thunder | Intermediate Stjar Clan quest that sets up the trip to Scorched Mountain. |
6 | Fallen God | Final step: activate the lightning device and defeat the Titan. |
The Titan arena is gated behind a lightning rod puzzle in Scorched Mountain, located in northeast Pailune. The puzzle uses five lightning rods arranged in a triangular configuration around a central platform:
Two rods are already active and emitting lightning when you arrive.
One rod needs its handwheel cranked until it sparks, after which you press the button to switch it on.
Two more rods have been knocked off their pedestals. Use Nature's Grasp to lift the detached rod pieces back onto their bases.
Once all five rods are active, rotate them so the lightning jumps clockwise from rod to rod in a triangle shape around the central platform.
With the circuit complete, step onto the central platform. The device transports you to the hidden arena where the Titan awaits.
The Titan is a demanding three-phase encounter and one of the longest boss fights in the game. Key tips specifically aimed at securing Reckoning as your reward:
Bring a strong stockpile of healing and stamina food before the puzzle. Once you stand on the platform, there is no way to restock, and the fight has no safe checkpoints until the final phase.
Phases 1 and 2 are the standard Titan. Wait for him to slam his spear or his fist, then punish with Turning Slash (R1+R2) during the recovery window.
Watch for glowing blue ground patches during the lightning attacks in phase 2. Roll perpendicular to the telegraph to avoid the strike.
The Gigantified Titan in phase 3 has far more health. If the climbing mechanic gives you trouble, park under his fists and melee them when they slam down. This is slower but avoids camera issues with climbing.
Dying inside the Gigantified Titan phase restarts you at the start of that phase, not the whole fight, so do not despair if the first attempt goes badly.
Reckoning sits at the top of the spear tier list for pure combat. The table below compares it at a glance to the three other well-known lootable spears.
Spear | Source | Notable Trait |
|---|---|---|
Reckoning Spear | Titan boss drop | 5 Abyss slots, upgradeable, Lightning God's Affliction parry proc. |
Well of Enlightenment loot | Leaves bismuth fragments on hit but has only 50/50 durability and cannot be repaired. | |
Gorthak / Zargan Tankworks research loot | Fire-imbued strong attack but limited durability. | |
Dewhaven Keep research loot | Chain-lightning strong attack with the same durability caveat. |
Prioritize the Pailune faction grind. The Stjar Clan questline will not appear until Pailune Militia, Skoghorn Tribe, and Longleaf Tribe have all been cleared, so do the three in any order you prefer.
Save manually before stepping on the central lightning platform. A bad fight early on is much easier to retry from a save than from the last autosave.
Equip defensive Abyss Gears while learning the Titan's patterns, then re-slot for offensive gears once you are comfortable with the parry windows.
Unlike the Bismuth Spear, Flame Spear, and Lightning Spear, Reckoning does not burn through durability, so there is no need to stash it in the vault. Use it freely as your main weapon.
The Lightning Bolt Plate Armor that drops alongside Reckoning is worth keeping in storage even if you do not wear it. Its Lightning Resistance Lv 7 is the highest in the game and makes it an easy swap for future lightning-themed encounters.
