Protector of the Abyss is a faction quest in Crimson Desert, part of the The Witch of Kindness quest series. This quest takes place in the Hernand region.

Slotting in the Witch's Tokens into a tree in Wayward Woods opened the door, leading to White Crow the Witch.
Check the faction quest board regularly, as available quests rotate over time.
Completing faction quests increases your reputation with the local faction, unlocking access to better vendors and rewards.
Protector of the Abyss only opens after you have finished the individual sanctum questlines of all four regional witches. Each witch gives you a Witch's Token on completion. You need all four to unlock the hideout door:
Elowen - Witch of Wisdom.
Bari - Witch of Kindness.
Lyselia - Witch of Humility.
Areciel - Witch of Strength.
The Wayward Woods Witch's Hideout is on the western mountainside of Silver Wolf Mountain in Pailune. Head out from Pailune City and follow the dirt path south-west into the foggy woods. The hideout is a small house hidden deep inside the fog, and you must approach on foot; mounts will refuse the last stretch.
Complete all four witch questlines to collect the four Witch Tokens.
Travel to Wayward Woods on the western side of Pailune.
Approach the hideout door deep in the fog and insert the four tokens into the slotted holes on the door.
Enter the hideout and speak with White Crow, the witch who originally gave you the first witch letters.
Two pieces of loot are lying around the hideout interior but do not enter your inventory automatically. You have to walk up and loot them by hand:

Before leaving the hideout, physically walk the room and pick up both the chest and the shelf item. Many players miss the recipe on the shelf entirely.
The Icewing Plate Cloak is a strong mid-game defensive piece; equip it immediately if you are still wearing early-game cloaks.
